What the...  O_o  That sounds...freaking stupid lol  I never read the comics, but the first live action movie explains their origin...about the same as the comic seemed to.  And the second movie explored it yet more.  (We won't talk about the third movie.)

I wll not see this movie.  >:P

I heard the Splinter isn't even training the Turtles. Sorry Bay, this will not be something I see nor will my kids. I'm a traditionalist, I suppose. I would have been excited to see Bay doing this movie if he left the storyline alone.

Please tell me this is a joke....PLEASE.  Oh jeez it isn't....I honestly didn't have much of a problem with the first two Transformers movies by him, I really didn't.  But this is just flat out insane.  There's a huge difference between some tweaks to the story, and a complete re-write of the franchise.  I really don't know how they can go from mutants to aliens without pretty much retconning the rest of the series.  I will definitely NOT watch this.

I never did see his Transformers movies, mostly because I've never been into Transformers at all. But I don't like what he's trying to do to TMNT. I have two brothers, so growing up, I watched TMNT just as much as I watched MLP and Care Bears. I even played with a bunch of the toys. So I definitely don't like how Bay's planning on changing it. That somewhat recent cartoon version (the one where they're all pointy looking) was bad enough. I don't understand why everything from the 80's needs to be changed and made "edgier" or whatever for the kids now. If it was good enough for us, shouldn't it be good enough for our kids? I mean, I guess I'm ok with change or updating older stuff, but at least do it well and keep it close to the source material. Like I didn't like the idea of the new MLP cartoon at first, but it's really good, so that's ok. Nothing all that drastic was changed. It's not like it was changed to My Little Alien or anything.

I loved TMNT for a brief moment as a kid but lost interest (probably because I discovered Ponies LOL) but later in life I found out my mom's cousin was the CEO of Mirage (the comic book company that started TMNT) so I feel a slight personal investment in the franchise. My cousin of course retired when they sold the rights to Nickelodeon in '09, but I'm really curious to see what he thinks of all this. Precious series or not, Bay has completely ruined his movie from the start.

What a moron.  Muddled history only if you don't feel the urge to do any research!  Great way to torque off a whole lot of life long fans.  April is going to end up being some brainless eye candy that can't act.  This makes me so MAD!  :enraged:

Is he [Peter] just trying to be diplomatic? I honestly don't see how "it's a way of justifying more turtles" justifies making them aliens. Why do there have to be more turtles? Why is more "always" better? Really, it sounds like a weak way of saying "I don't dare stomp on the toes of a famous movie director so I'm going to be as noncommittal as possible." Seen it before with creators of works that get made into movies that are HORRIBLY made. (Avatar: TLA, anyone?)

I agree with you about not needing an entire planet of turtles.  I liked the fact that it was a small group fighting against huge odds.  If there is a Turtle Planet, why couldn't they just call for reinforcements down the line when they get in trouble?

Perhaps Peter will be getting royalties, so he is trying to calm the fears of fans so they will buy tickets to it?  Either that or, like you said, he is being polite.
