As a new collector, I was tricked by "senior" collectors and sold many ponies I came across from flea markets. I did'nt get near their worth, when I found out I was so angry about people I trusted tricking me into selling them my rare ponies I almost gave up collecting :'(

I sold a mint condition Baby candy and two of the princess Dragons for $1 each to a collector who swore they was'nt worth baiting. And another collection graded my Sunburst to $8 and told me she was going to sell it for me, she kept the price difference by herself.
So much for honesty. I'm sometimes kicking myself for beeing so stupid. But mostly I just sit back and let karma have it's way with them XP It's just money in the end, My ponies mean more to me than that.

Ooooh....thats....very similar story to me on another one I just remembered [I think I try not and think of this one as it makes me cry lol]. When I started collecting I decided I didnt want accessories [yes, you may all faint in shock at that statement lol]. But I sold on here a couple of sweetie baby pony barrettes for $20 each - when I noticed someone had posted looking for them and I had no clue as to what they were worth...when I decided I needed to buy them back from another seller - times that number by 5 and add some more!! *Cry*

2 very sad stories :(

Baby Cotton candy was going for $50 on ebay when I got her in a large lot for like $2. Prices change dramatically.

My mistake was customizing a Brilliant Blossom with darker blue body and chartruse hair because I wanted to keep the one I had that looked like the normal version because I thought it was good to have the one that looked like she was supposed to look. I regret it to this day. Unfortunately the custom was a present, but if I ever got her back I could probably restore her somewhat because I just painted over her and dyed her hair. I bet I could wash the paint off and sunfade the dye out of the hair. How do I ask someone to return their christmas present I gave them several years ago though?

I guess my mistake was underestimating the value of the Mountain Boys - I picked up a pretty much mint condition Lightning from a car boot for £1 and assumed he was only worth £5-10 :P

I also have a habit of overestimating certain G3s, though I've never really overpaid for them. Yet.

I'm not too devastated about those ponies anymore. The only thing i REALLY regret is being convinced to sell my childhood Newborn Baby Snoozy. I have been trying to find a replacement for years, but she does'nt come up for sale that often I'm afraid :'( I really lernt a valuable lesson there. I'm just happy It haven't kept me from collecting though. I do really love the ponies and this community! :)

Mine was that G2's were so different from G1's that I wouldn't want them. Wrong.

When I got my first G2 home I just loved her, and she's still my favourite even though I'm looking to get the rest of her set. xD

I almost left her behind, can you imagine? <3

I *still*make mistakes now with things like pricing :P When I was very new to collecting, I was going to try to 'fix' Princess Sparkle and cut her head off... now her head is barely attached and the crown still doesnt light up ^^;

When I was 5 I left a backpack full of G1s unsupervised in my cubby at daycare because, after all, everyone was my friend! Nobody would take them!

Yeah, I never saw that Little Mermaid backpack again.

I thought all G3's with tinsel in their hair were super rare, so I hoarded them for months before a friend clued me in. *blush*

I thought there must be a whole set of Dinosaur Pony Friends out there.  This was before finding Kimberly's Dream Valley site, back in ye olde days of geocities and webrings.  *chuckle*
