brush stokes in painted symbols?
« on: March 03, 2012, 05:38:40 PM »
I'm having a really hard time with having brush strokes in the painting done on my symbols, I water it down and granted they aren't terrible by any means they still drive me crazy! Are there any other tips aside from watering the paint down and doing thin layers? What about sealers? Is there a sealer that will help smooth/fill in the brush strokes?

Some people use super-duper fine sandpaper to smooth ridges. I find that rubbing dry paint with a cloth (I use an old flannel blankie) can smooth out smaller ridges before sealing- not perfect, but much better, especially if I do it between layers of paint. I've heard of a sealant that helps, but can't remember what it it- someone will know, I'm sure!

Try using thicker brushes, especially for more solid fields of color!  I've found that it makes a big difference.
