Rehairing with rehairing tool
« on: February 21, 2012, 06:22:25 AM »
So I generally use the needle-and-thred method of rehairing - it's neat, tidy, and reasonably fast, for me. But for a custom I'm making at the moment, I'm going to need to use a rehairing tool.
My questions: how do you secure the hair once it's through? I could see using glue for a G1, or maybe G3, but it's a G4 and her head hole is so tiny I'm not sure how I'd go about it.

Any suggestions? They seem semi-secure at the moment, but not as secure as I'd like - one came out when I was giving it a gentle brush to get out any little tangles.

Just squirt a little bit of glue in the head and then smoosh it around with a Q-tip.
That should hold it just fine. ;)

For g4s a doll needle or even a big eye beading needle work very well.  But if you want to use a rehairing tool I suggest as mentioned above to squirt some glue on a q-tip and press it in there.  It will be hard to get them back out if you ever want to but it should secure them pretty well.
I'm not really on here anymore. Email me if you need my for something.

Yup, just squirt that glue in there and smush it around. My G4s have had more glue than probably necessary because I can't see what I'm doing and want to make sure it's really covered XD   You also probably want to use a quick drying glue as there is so little airflow in the tiny heads. I use fabritack because is dries quickly. Something like mod podge would take a really long time to dry in there.
