I'm sunfading right now a Lemondrop wit saddle marks, they are pretty stubborn, they are almost as hard to sunfade like pink higlighter (spelling?)  markers  >_< but I'm having a progress after one month of daily sunfading under the tropical hard sun of latin america.  ^.^

The sun is coming out more and more and I decided that Sugar Apple with a terrible head-body mismatch with yellowed body should be my first guinea pig! I took the head and tail off, covered the symbols with tape and black marker and sat her to the sunnier side of the house. This is the result after just one day!

Although the pink marker is still there, the body is much more brighter and goes more well with the head. I think I'll try baby Lucky and baby Fifi next to see if it goes as well with them being darker blue to begin with.

I recently heard that g2 Sweetberry is prone to some sort of burning as well. Can anyone confirm that?
I've got one with a pretty big pink highlighter mark that I'd been hoping to try and fade, but I'll take her with the mark if it means she'll end up burning.

Given, we don't exactly get a lot of sun anyways, so perhaps I could try and just keep a close eye on her.

For ponies with glitter symbols I've heard that wrapping them in saran wrap and coloring over their symbol with a black marker works, has anyone tried this method? Does it work well?
Also, I noticed in the pictures that the tape on the ponies symbols/eyes wasn't cut exactly to the shape of it's eyes/symbols, does it have to be? Because I would think yes or else the parts that are covered around the edges wouldn't fade..
I'm asking because I have a yellowed Daddy Apple Delight that I would like to fade and he sure does have a lot of symbols :P

this is perfect timing I have just got a sun fade candidate and was wondering if I needed to cover anything up.

though I think I will need to go to the sun as I don't think it will come here.

So she can fade while I tan  :relaxed: (now wheres that factor 50)

The one thing to remember is that potentially any pony can burn - in the same way any pony can get age marks - they are the same source. Similar to some ponies are more prone to age marks some are more prone to burning - if you have a pony which is traditionally known for having age mark issues then be careful of it in the sun. I cant say I have heard any bad stories of sun burning on any of the ponies posted in the last few posts. :)

I have seen people say they managed to sun fade on a pearlised pony but I believe it takes longer and doesnt always work. The coating isnt as forgiving as the plastic and I think it may depend on how deep the stain has gone as well as what has caused it.

i've had party time out in the sun due to black marker and regrind. she's becoming more of an even pink now, but her insides are sticky. not sure if this is a reaction just to the sun, just from regrind or regrind + sun.

It sounds like her regrind getting worse and plasticiser leaking. Party Time is a pony prone to age marks therefore she is prone to getting sticky due to plasticiser breaking out.

Yeah I kinda thought it would be that. But that's ok, it's only the inside - for the moment  plus as she was in really poor knick, she was more a sun fade test case!!

I've ran out of painters tape, and I was just curious if it was okay to cover the symbols / eyes with tin foil or if it'll do something unholy to it?

I always use tinfoil to cover symbols and eyes - I find it easiest to adjust to the right size and it clings nicely. I havent had any issues - but as with everything just be careful to check it every now and again.
