How is everyone making their extra FIM earth filly characters like Diamond Tiara

I know the regular way would be to use another earth pony her size like Apple Bloom but there's not many of her to come by, unless shopping on ebay for extras or baits of her and I didn't want to do that so I thought of getting a couple of the Cheerilee play school pals sets.  I thought I would cut off the horn to Sweetie Belle and the wings on Scootaloo and then sand down the excess.  I'm wondering if anyone has done this?  And what you used to sand down the excess plastic?  Or if anyone has any other ideas I'd love to here them too!

I cut the horn off my Sweete Belle, used Amazing Sculpt to fill the hole, sanded and then painted.

To make my custom Applebloom, I cut the horn off a Sweetiebelle, filled it in with Apoxie Clay, and then sanded it smooth and painted it.

They are sooo cute!  I didn't think that cutting the horn off would make a hole.  It would be alot easier to sand sculpey than the plastic, that's for sure!  Thanks guys!!  I'm in an artsy mood tonight I think I'm going to start Braeburn tonight.  I like that character.  I want to make the Sheriff too.     I wanted to start one of the babies but they were all out at Target when I went.

I think it just depends.  I've lopped the horn off two, both left little indents in the head, and one also had a small hole, but because of the indent, I still had to smooth them both out with apoxie.

Just a thought- I'm looking for Sweetie Belle and have Apple Bloom if anyone ever wants to trade. It's cost me $7 to send to the States, but it's less than the $15 I'd pay for Sweetie Belle's train car to get the bait.
