I never made any progress on my poor pony beyond removing the paint and hair. I never had any inspiration for her. :/

Here she is!

I sculpted her mane and tail, as well as sculpted over her eyes to make them bigger and the seam of her neck to make it less noticable.  She was then given a fbr and finished off with the vines, a deco rose and a ribbon bow.

I've started calling her my lil Dolly Parton Starlet while I was rehairing her. I was originally going to go for a white and orange mix, but I think the Buttercreme suits her better. Once I figured out how to separate the strands and keep down the frizziness, it became so much easier.  Even though I initially wanted her a darker browner orange, I love the more faded toned orange she is now. I think I really improved my fine detail painting skills with this lovely lady. I already feel like a winner.  :woot: :beerchug:

I definitely added some of y'all to my "WANNA PONY FROM" list.

Final pics - Swan Prince
« Reply #290 on: March 15, 2012, 06:34:57 PM »
So I managed to finish my fakie custom....I've named him swan prince.  He started out as a hot pink critter.  I've moved the head, sculpted wings, given him a full body repaint, added feathered mane and tail, and gave him jewelry.  Now, I think he looks like David Bowie.

Once I got his hair done, I decided that he reminded me of David Bowie as the GoblinKing.  I tried to give the impression of water bubbles using the shimmery beads.  I think he turned out fairly well for my second ever custom.  Thank you for allowing me to join the contest.  I've had a blast!

Oh boy! This pony has been rehaired for awhile now, but I kept thinking I'd finish some painting before I took an in-progress pic... :yikes: Oh well! Here she is, cataract-y and paintless! ;D

I'm ready for my closeup!

Details: Rehaired with an alpaca mix yarn and brushed out for the 'perfume puff' look, she's got light pink and white stripes, to match her peppermint-y symbol! Her eyes were accidentally damaged with acetone during the paint-removal stage, so like any good pirate, she wears her hair over her 'bad' eye as an eye patch! (No one says you can't wear makeup under an eye patch, of course!) She's painted with craft acrylics, both on her peppermint-y symbol and her new eyeshadow and eyelashes.

Her accessories are a hand-braided four-strand leather sword belt (with a suitably piratey sword to match!), a bandana to help hold down her hair over her eye with some shiny trinkets dangling off of it, a gold hoop earring, a feather for her tail and a shiny gold bracelet from her latest treasure hunt!

Her favorite activities include brushing her beautiful poofy hair, applying her hot-pink eyeshadow, and hunting for buried treasure, of course!

Hey Guys!  Okay, well, I am finally finished.  I hope you guys enjoy him (my hubs says it is one of his faves)!  He is rehaired in mohair, has a hand sewn felt hat and the mushrooms, houses and trees were sculpted with Apoxie Sculpt.  Thanks for looking!

May I present.............My Little Gnomey.

Oh. My. Goodness. That is the coolest Gnomey EVER. LOVE!

Snapdragon - my immediate impression was "it's a ponypirate version of Willy Nelson!"

I think it's the red headband that reminds me of him ;)

Well, the pony just isn't turning out like I envisioned it.  I was inspired by the merry-go-round horses from Merry Poppins.  But I wasn't sure I wanted a mono-chromatic Merry-Go-Round pony.  So did a similar design, but with lots of colors.   I HATE it!   It looks too cartoony. And yes, I realize that's because Merry Poppins is part cartoon.  But still. I plan on redoing it.

However, today was the deadline.  So please enjoy these WIP pictures.  I'm going to redo the pony. I plan on simplifying it down to blue and white with yellow accents.

Looks like everyone did an amazing job (yes even you cookhuman ;p) and now here's my little addition to the fun!

She was airbrushed in white with a pink and gold dusting on her legs. Her peacock friend was sculpted with premo polymer clay and accented with Swarovski crystals. Here eyes were done up in more of a G4 style because they looked nice and proportionate to her head. I added in an extra row of hair plugs because one row is never enough ^_^ Her wings were made with fantasy film

Ok, so mine didn't come out as clean as I hoped it would.  I have been working a lot of overtime, and didn't have a lot of time to work on it, so I think I rushed the flocking.  The black liked to stick to the white, even after the glue was dry :/ (it loved to stick to my face, too...lol)  It was definitely a great learning experience, and I have a better idea on how to do it next time.  I'm glad I used a fakie as a guinea pig XD

Anyway...It's a cow!  I sculpted the original ears into horns, and gave him a new set of ears lower down on his head.  Sculpted the hair on his head and his tail.  Other than the pesky black flocking, I think he's cute!
