Welcome to the club! I'd recommend reading up on sunfading. I'm using 10% Hydrogen Peroxide, but it sounds like other have more luck with the type of peroxide that is in spot cream with I think is benzoyl peroxide.

Then find a nice sunny spot and....wait.

*Edit* I've also had some luck with magic sponges if the mark is not too deep.

Do not ever use Benzoyl Peroxide or acne cream on your ponies! NEVER EVER.
It cannot be completely washed off and the color will slowly leach out. It can effect nearby ponies. Just don't do it.

Depending on your area, sunfading might be easy or harder. I don't use Hydrogen Peroxide, I just set the pony out in the sun. I'm in an area where she has to be completely outside, so I usually put her in a plastic bag or tie her up somewhere.
Here's a link to a tutorial. You can use painters tape instead of acrylic if you wish.

Hydrogen Peroxide : all gud, go ahead. :3

Benzol peroxide (acne cream/remove zit) : Oh hell naw. No. No. No. No, never. Not even once. Don't do this. Nope nope nope. For the love of everything sacred and beautiful, never use it I'm begging ya'll. D:

It irreversibly bleaches their vinyl over the years and applies that effect to ponies that came into direct or indirect contact with an affected pony. It doesn't even bleach off marker 100% of the time. If I had the pictures in hand, I would have showed you. I remember one scribbled Bowtie whose marker marks stayed and there is the acne cream bleaching the vinyl over it.

Also, for that matter, it used to be popular in the last couple of decades, so if you're buying restored ponies off of other collectors, do ask them if they've used this cream and be very wary as the bleaching could show up only a few years later. This is why it was very late when we all realised this method is one of the least recommenced ever as of today.

Stay safe. <3

I recently had really good luck sunfading black marker off of a pony without using any bleaching chemicals. I just posted a thread about it in the Pony Corral titled 'One year later' or something like that, if you want to see before and after pics. I don't know how to link to it or I would, but it's not too buried yet.

H202 may remove glitter from her symbols. Recommend regular sunfading... However, I caution, brown age spots may cause the pony to darken, sunburn. So, if she has other spots besides the marker again, I recommend proceeding with caution. Pictures always help.

So as the original recommender of spot cream I feel bad now! But I'm happy that i've learned something from this too. I have a couple of stubborn pen marks that I was going to move to spot cream for next, so i'm glad I hadn't bought it yet.

OP, sorry for apparently recommending a pony-killer

Remove-zit cream used to be the go to for stains on ponies. Everybody used it for stubborn stains, and everybody recommended it.  It was touted as a miracle stain remover. I had a very skilled restorer friend even send me some to try out(I never did - the jar lid was stuck, and I was lazy). Now we’re seeing the long term effects of it.  It takes a while for the real problems to show up, but once they do, there’s no fixing it.  I have a TE Sky Rocket that looked pretty much mint when I got her. Then one day I looked over at her, and I see a huge bleached out splotch right in the middle of her forehead.

Acne cream creates time bombs in your collection.  It might take a while, but it’ll get there in the end.
