I picked, in order of quality(tm):

Flashprance
Great Skates
Having a Luau

HOWEVER: I think it is crazy talk that Hearts and Candy is not included in this list! :lmao: I LOVE that outfit! It definitely featured largely in my mental image of 'glamorous pony fashion' as a child! That fashion show at the end of Escape From Catrina? Magnificent!!!

Here's my reasoning for the three choices: Once, Flashprance is a classic 80s look. We got rainbows, we got a headband, and most importantly: LEG WARMERS! This is peak 80s, and pony is 80s goodness personified! Plus, remember when Baby Lickety Split wore it in the MLP Movie? Classic cinema moment, taught in major cinema studies courses in universities across the world. I've said enough.

Great Skates: I think this one is a bit weaker than my other choices, but the fact that we have 1. Horse Skates and 2. FUNCTIONAL WHEELS puts this baby over the top for me. Barbie had tons of outfits with skates included; many of them had solid molded wheels for stability's sake. NOT FOR THE HORSES, BAYBEE! The headband is adorable! The saddle thing, a little questionable. But skates? SKATES FOR HORSES????? Impeccable. I buy them whenever I see them cheap because I LOVE HORSE SKATES SO MUCH.

Having A Luau is an outfit I didn't even know existed for many years after I started collecting, and that is a darn shame. It's not "iconic" like many of the outfits, because IMO it never appeared in the TV series. Because if you have that little Hawaiian shirt in hand, you will realize HOW CUTE it is. It's a teal/medium blue, with little purple parrots on it, and oh my gosh. It is SO CUTE. I haven't completed this set (still need the hat and purse), but I feel like if you have the shirt, you have the most important piece of the ensemble. The skirt is great too, but that shirt? Adorable. ADORABLE!

This is a very fun thread and I never realized how passionate I was about pony fashion! :lmao:

One of the reasons I love these kinds of threads is seeing how different things appeal to different people. It's fun and interesting! City Kids and Neon Lights were my #2 and #3...I love how 80's they look!

If I ever get City Kids and Neon Lights, I will probably do another ranking to include those! But yes, I also love to see what people have as their favorites.

I just got a mental picture of a poor pony trying to roller skate while carrying a rider on that saddle...yikes! Bad idea.

YES! That is a very bad idea. Nobody in their right mind would ride a pony wearing freakin' roller skates. Hmm, I did just buy the Pony Workout ensemble...maybe I should put the roller skates on the one! (No, I will keep it the way it is with the shoes...I need my outfits to be the way how they came!)

Reading your updated post got me thinking, wouldn't it be nice if there were a place we could go to trade pony wear pieces to complete sets? Like if someone had an extra white luau hat they could trade for something they needed that you had...I bought this really lucky lot once that had so many random pieces in it that just happened to be last pieces I needed to complete like 5 ponywear sets, but I know I'll never find that kind of deal again!

Ooh, that is a good idea. I will say that the only outfits where I'm missing pieces are the ones I owned when I was a kid. Like I said before, I'm missing the white hat from Having a Luau, I'm missing the helmet (of course I am) and one shoe from Pony Naut, and sadly, I'm missing the socks, the stereo, AND the hairlip from Get Into the Groove. When I buy outfits from ebay and Etsy, I make sure they have all the pieces because I am a completionist. The only exception is the Milk 'n Cookies nightgown where I wasn't able to get the milk and cookies that come with it.

Same here...I usually won't buy it if all the pieces aren't there. That's why I can't seem to get City Kids or Hearts and Candy, the belt is often missing on the former and that dang necklace on the latter seems nonexistent unless you buy it MOC. I also just got the pony workout set! It was the last one I needed to complete my mother/baby sets. It's so cute!

Get into the Groove was a childhood outfit for me, and I have all the pieces except for ONE sock...how annoying! My hair clip is a replacement, though...I paid dearly for it! But that was the lot that had all the other set completers in it, I just didn't realize it at the time because it was all jumbled up in a heap in the pics and I couldn't see what was in there. All I knew was, that clip was a grail of mine!

Most of what I'm missing is one or 2 random shoes from outfits; easily replaced, but I just never get around to it. I just can't justify spending $3-$5 per piece plus $5 shipping on each of these random pieces! I don't have the milk and cookies either...I don't ever remember my set having a milk, but it must have come with one. The paintbrush from Pretty as a Picture, the skirt from Having a Luau, the visor to Pony Luv and the pants from Rockin' the Night Away all seem to elude me. Those pants bug me especially, because I inadvertently bought it like that...I would never have bought it if I had realized it was missing a piece, but I missed that in the listing. I thought about trying to make a pair. It really looks fine without them, but it bothers the completionist in me!

Ah. I can explain that. The ones I listed here were just the general Pony Wear outfits. Since Hearts and Candy is part of the Pony Wear with Jewelry line, I ranked those outfits in a separate thread. (As well as Mother and Baby Pony Wear, Play ' Wear outfits, Costume Wear, Megan and Pony Wear, etc.) Here is the Pony Wear with Jewelry rankings. As you can see, Hearts and Candy to 73% of the votes. I think it is one of the most popular outfits out of any Pony Wear ensembles. And I also love the fashion show at the end of Escape from Catrina!

Yes!!! I love the parrot shirt so much! Like I said, I want that shirt in real life! If I could have three pony pieces that I could also wear, they would be:
1. The parrot shirt
2. The blue hoodie with red and yellow trim and with stars on the front from the Pony Workout. I would wear that ALL the time!
3. A blouse or nice top made out of the floral pattern from the Tea Party ensemble.

Oh, good! I hope you seek out my other Pony Wear rankings!

I was lucky to get the heart pendant (intact!) from Hearts and Candy. It's been the most expensive Pony Wear I've bought to date and the outfit could still be fine without it, but there's something about having it that completes the outfit and makes it that more cuter.

Ack! Missing just ONE sock would be annoying. That was lucky you got the hair clip. I actually totally forget a hair clip came with this outfit until I did some research a few months ago.I can understand why I lost if since it was so small, but not sure what happened to the stereo....

I can't seem to find the pants to Rockin' the Night Away either. There were two listings for that outfit and neither of them had the pants. Finally I just bought one of them because the Costume Wear and Play 'n Wear outfits seem to be very scarce, so I wanted to get it before it went away. I don't know if the pants just ripped easily or got lost easily or what. You can sort of get away without having pants. If I had to give up one item from the ensemble, it would be the pants. But I'm still keeping an eye open for them at a reasonable price!

And I absolutely refused to buy Pony Luv if it didn't have a vision. Luckily I did find one that had it, but I'm seriously thinking about upgrading to a more crisper whiter version (if I can find it!) because mine's a little on the stained side. Not a big deal, but something I'm considering.
