Best way to store/preserve a MOC G1 pony
« on: February 18, 2018, 07:00:01 AM »
Hi,

What's the best way to store G1 MOC items? I have set of MOC pony wear that I store flat in box on top of some soft items (doll clothes, Build a Bear accesoores) and am thinking that a plastic storage box would be a great way to store a MOC pony.

Ponyfan is channeling my vibes today O.O.

I have this same issue right now. In fact, my ponywear is stacked up on top of each other with Pony Naut (cos of the helmet) on the top and I am certain it's not the best way to store them. I am thinking of getting a small tub and putting them in with layers of bubblewrap between them as none of them are very heavy.

I worry a little about putting my MOC ponies in a tub on top of each other as I don't want the collective weight to crack bubbles. Right now I have them in stacks of about four with bubblewrap between them (some face down and some face up) and some in boxes 2 together which keeps them quite safe. But yeah. It's a hard one :/ So scared of damaging those bubbles O.O.

Would storing them vertically be a possibility? I've got a box that's designed for hanging small bags of embroidery floss. There's a small metal bar that the bags can hang from. Would something like that work for the MOC items?

I have my MIB things wrapped in acid free tissue paper, and then stored in small, sturdy plastic boxes. The top of the box has a very small hole drilled in it, and I have silica packs inside. Probably 3 boxes fit in one plastic box.

If I had something that was MOC with a bubble, I'd probably custom make a foam protector to go around the bubble-- to keep it from shifting or smashing. (I've seen something I've seen for 80s camera/lenses). I'd still use acid free tissue paper though to go inbetween.

Acid free paper is a good idea. I use it already with the G2 and G3 I have in tubs but I hadn't thought about it for the MOCs. I think when I have some more time to dedicate to it I need to measure the ponies in terms of depth and see if I can get a stacking series of small boxes. I don't mind them staying as they are for now but it's not the most effective use of space which is already at a premium.

Thank you for that thought <3

Thanks everyone. :) So even with a plastic box it’s still a good idea to use some kind of cushioning ( tissue paper, bubble wrap) to protect the bubble even more?
