Brush n' Grow Ponies head removal, help?
« on: April 17, 2017, 06:13:18 AM »
Hi everyone, I have a Braided Beauty to rehair and I would like to remove the head without destroying the mechanism, only the head needs to be re-haired, can anyone help?

Last I heard it was impossible to not break the mechanism but if you were careful you could break it in a way that was repairable. Definitely curious if anything else has been figured out though since I have one in rough shape.

It is possible but difficult. I rerooted a braided beauty and custom punzie. I don't know how to describe what I did but it worked and you can barely tell the head was removed.
Let your heart guide you. It whispers so listen cloesly..

Does the winding mechanism still work? Cos I may have found a way, I "decapitated" it so far, I still need to remove the hair and re root... If I succeed I will post instructions :)

It's extremely difficult to keep a mechanism working. Basically there's a little peg that goes through a tight hole and its very easy to break it off. At that point the head will no longer go back on. It'll balance, but not stay. I took photos for the preservation project:

I've done about 7 and only 2 kept the peg. It wouldn't glue back whatever I tried.

It's been quite a while but I remember I successfully beheaded a BNG and removed the mechanism in her head... The head removal just takes quite a bit of force to pull it over the last part of the "stem" that goes up through her neck. As for removing the mechanism to rehair her, I cut it out with an exacto knife, very carefully, and wiggled it out, then planned to reglue it later. Never actually ended up doing the whole rehair.

If you need any assistance with the tail part of the mechanism, let me know, I still remember a lot of it.

I haven't found one that needs tail re-hairing so far, only 2 of the winding one with hair cut on head, I think the other one was Ringlet, I don't remember anymore, the plastic was so bad anyway that I ended up giving up on it. The mystery of the atrocious plastic discoloring of Ringlet... I don't even know where to begin to attempt a restoration for that issue, I don't think sunfading works either, I have an UV lamp that works great, but for those doesn't really do anything.

I haven't sunfaded a pony in ages at the moment...
