Mail Order G1 Applejack?
« on: February 11, 2017, 03:01:04 PM »
I spotted a MIP with original box Mail Order Applejack on eBay. Off the top of my head I can't remember the early ponies being available by mail order so does anyone know her origin?

I can't post a live eBay auction but if you search "my little pony mail order applejack" she should come up :)

I think I would actually call her a "catalog order" pony; she was sold like that in the Holiday Wish Books from Sears, JC Penny, and other stores.

She wasn't a mail order 'horseshoe points' pony like the ones in the flyers. :)

Ah, I see. I didn't know ponies sold that way would have different packaging but I guess it makes sense if it's something that'd be sent through the post.

Yeah, ponies ordered out of Wishbook catalogs (like from Sears etc) came packed in a baggie with their brush/comb and ribbon (similar to mail order ponies) and then the MIB pony was packaged in a square box (no window) that had pictures yoinked from the Year 2 backcard on it.  :)   They often show up on eBay in the baggie, but minus the box.

Trickles, and some of the other Year 2/Year 3 Rainbow ponies were sold as "proper" mail orders at one point, though.  But not any 'regular' ponies like Applejack, Moondancer, etc.
