Pony In Need Of A Helping Hoof- Toronto
« on: February 01, 2017, 06:40:38 PM »
Apologies if this is in the wrong thread. I wasn't sure where to put it.

So this is my pony:

I would really like some help getting her all fixed up. She is in desperate need of a de-flocking and deep clean to get rid of mould if possible. It's likely her cutie mark will need to be repainted and her hair replaced as well as the flocking. I would do this all myself but I'm just terrified of ruining her if I do since I have never done this before. I have already washed her down as best I could myself and tried to fix her hair to no avail.

I live in Canada, Toronto On.
I'm hoping to avoid shipping her out and would prefer someone local to me if at all possible.
Please respond to my post if you think you can help.
Her name is Summer Days and I would really like to see her get restored.

As for flocking she looks great:) I see played with flocking, and I would keep it. I love so soft spot so this is what I do. I take bacterial soup and gently get her soapy. I use an extra soft or baby tooth brush and gently scrub around the pony. A lot of times marks and stains come off. I rinse in cool water. I use conditioner on the hair and flocking. I comb through the hair, and leave pony with conditioner in body hair to sit a few days. I add a bit of water to soften the conditioner and use the tooth brush again. I rinse pat dry with a towel and style the hair. All my so softs have not lost flocking. They seam to come out whiter in flocking, and soft to touch.

Hey neighbour!

I'm unfortunately inexperienced in restoring G1s (I stop at a surface wash and hair spa)  so I don't think I can offer much help, but here's a bump from a fellow GTA kin.

Hi! I second what Crowning_Glory said; a soft scrub to her flocking and combing through her hair with conditioner would probably fix her up very nicely :) You might search for some tutorials on YouTube if you'd like to see it done. If you still want to deflock her, there are tutorials online, like at the My Little Pony Preservation Project (http://www.mlppreservationproject.com/body.html#DeFlocking); deflocking can be a fairly simple but time-consuming process if you want to do it yourself. I deflocked a Bouncy long ago when I hardly knew what I was doing and she turned out pretty nicely; I used plain old nail polish remover and used it to rub off her flocking (staying away from her symbols and eyes for the most part, as nail polish remover will take these off), but there are better, quicker ways of deflocking ^^; There are also some members here who would deflock her for you, but you'd have to ship her out, probably. Still, you never know; there may be a Toronto-based member who can do it.

Hi Croning_Glory13
Yes she was well played with and my favourite pony hence why I kept her around. I used to pretend she was the princess of all my ponies when I had more. the others were lost or given away by my parents during garage sales. I did give her a wash down using a toothbrush and it did get rid of a lot of the dirt on her mouth nose and bottom of her hooves. That pink smudge near her cutie mark is still there. I will try letting the conditioner sit in her hair longer to see if that helps at all and post up pictures of the aftermath. Do you think it would work if I just added new flocking to the bald spots?
Do you think it would be

Thanks! Unfortunately more of the flocking came off during the cleaning even though I was doing my best to be gentle. The conditioner really helped when I let it sit for longer, now she really is so soft hehe. I may just de-flock her at some point but I'll leave her as is for now.
