Is it possible to rehair Glamour Glow Rarity?
« on: October 17, 2016, 07:01:30 PM »
Hi guys!
Recently I bought a Glamour Glow Rarity from someone on FB, fully aware of the issues with the hair but I figured I might be able to fix said issues.

But before I do.. Has anyone attempted to even rehair her and keep her in working order?
Because this is what I have to work with (Warning picture is huge because I haven't changed the settings on new phone)

I don't know, but I'm watching this thread to find out :0
Mine came with horribly frizzy/matted hair like that, straight out of the box :\

You can, it will be good for displaying purposes because the hair will be a tiny bit loose if you have a heavy hand.

You can cut the original hair and push the exess hair bits into the pony's head with a needle. I know, it seems bad if you just leave the hair bits rattling inside. Then, you start rehairing the pony like usual with the reroot tool, and for the tail, once you cut off and pushed the hair in then you take the hair and fasten it with two small zip ties and push it in the tail hole. There will be no glue in the head but it will still stay in the holes if you are gentle. For the hair i recommend dollyhair.com .  It has a great supply of hair.
Hope this helped or gave you a general idea, good luck!

What all exactly is in her that breaks if you take the head off?
HAS anyone ever found like a destructed one?
Wouldn't the "Cord" that lights up the horn have to be long enough so that the head could be snapped on at the factory/she wasn't made and the horn inserted or 'plugged in' or whatever, last, right?

Stabbing the tail in is pretty common for things that can't open like Dream Beauties. The ziptie method keeps such tails in great like Mangle Crafter mentioned.
But, there's got to be something to be done for the head. I have actually TWO of these now in awful condition. One I knew going in and didn't care/a cool bait/I love projects, the other used tomfoolery/packaging shenanigans to trick me into getting (so salty...) so now I'm also seeking solutions. (She'd make a lovely G1 Sparkler)

I can attempt to remove her head when I have time off, I just can't do what I normally do (dunk her in water).. so what I'm going to have to do is put her in a ziploc bag and run her under the hot water to see if that works>

Might I suggest using a blow dryer? That's usually what I use if I need to remove a doll head but don't want to mess up the hair style by getting it wet.

I haven't used the blow drier trick in a long while.. after ruining a pony friend with it (don't want to get into that story). I don't know how well that will work with her due to the harder plastic of the body and I'm not sure what kind of plastic is used for the head (I can tell you though I see a color difference big time due to being two very different plastics)
