Question about Shout Factory's MLP complete series DVD

Hi,

I was going to watch some episodes of the G1 MLP TV series. I have the Shout Factory version. I have watched my DVDs every so often and have never seen this happen before. When the episode started on one tv it was boxed in by black bars on the side. I know this makes it the correct aspect ratio on widescreen TVs but I have played this DVD on the same TV and never saw the boxed in episode before. I tried it on another TV and the episode had no bars around it. Could it the DVD player?

It's probably either the DVD player or what type of input the player is plugged into.

It could just be the settings on the TVs as well. Someone might have changed the display settings for that type of input. Or if it's a smart TV - mine sometimes resets certain settings when it gets a major update.

Thanks Al-1701 and duenia. I don't think it's a smart TV but I don't remember the bars being around it before and other DVDs in the same format play as big as the TV screen with no bars. I tried to get a picture but it's hard to see. My dog sometimes steps  on the remote controls so it's possible she could have  changed the settings also.
