Head-knocker Sundance? + Ponies on display in cars?
« on: September 11, 2016, 09:15:18 PM »
I kind of want to buy a Head-knocker Sundance for my new car and was wondering if anyone could tell me more about them? I was hoping to find a video of how well her head bobbles, or a review?

The collector in me is sort of horrified at the thought of leaving her on the dash to get sunfaded though, and thinks I should just get a normal Sundance instead, maybe even one already a bit baity. Do the Neca Head-knockers suffer from the same sunfading damage as G1 ponies do? Is leaving a pony on the dash going to 100% destroy it in Australian summers?

Maybe I should just stick with decals. What do you all think, does anyone have ponies living in their car? :P

You're horrified about leaving a bobblehead in a car but not a real pony? :P

I'm pretty sure that poor Sundance would be destroyed quite fast in Australia. I'd always go for a fakie or not-real-Hasbro-pony item if you're putting them in a super sunny/hot place, like a car. Even stuff designed for cars like decals and other decorations can be damaged by sunlight or temperature.

As far as the bobblehead itself, I've never heard of them before. I have a NECA bendy Coraline doll and she's great. High quality, good painting. She's so not worth eBay prices unless you're a collector but I imagine the head knockers are worth the $20ish prices I'm seeing.

I've thought about getting a g3 or fakie (something that I don't massively care about as I'm a G1 collector) to put on my dash.  As a fellow Brisbanite I would reckon that yes, our summers will destroy anything!  if you can fry eggs on the hood of your car, you can probably not only sunfade a pony but reduce it to a sloppy pile of vinyl  :snicker:  Maybe if your car is garaged or under cover most of the time you'll be right?  (I got a new 2nd hand car a few months ago and it's black... gonna be an absolute oven before long, lol!)

oh yes, you'd definitely destroy it! I have a g1 bowtie plush that was kept in a car for a few months, her mane and tail are white on one side.

I have that head knocker.  Her head bobbles pretty good and her body is really hard and so is the base.  Her mane and tail are real hair...well pony hair.  I don't think having it on a dashboard is a good idea though, but you can do what you want.  :)

I recently bought the Sundance and I wouldn't recommend putting her on your dashboard. She's really heavy and I think ceramic. What ever she's made of it's not the light, hollow vinyl that real ponies are made of. What ever you're using to adhere her to your dash will probably degrade quickly and I can just see her popping off and tumbling off when you turn. >: Plus her hair feels a little cheaper than real pony hair. I wouldn't keep her in constant direct sunlight to roast inside of a car.

When I was with my grandma she bought me an Equestria Girls Mini from Target, and then I left it in the car (out of direct sunlight, even) to go into another store. When I came back she was sticky and smelled very strongly ;v; (but she was okay once she cooled down!)

It's probably not a good idea, especially in Australia!

I have the Sundance Head Knocker as well and agree she is probably too heavy to put on your dashboard. I was surprised how heavy she was when I bought her.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I figured the general consensus would advise against it. As much as I'd love to have a pony in my car I love ponies too much to do that to one. It's interesting to hear that the head-knocker is so heavy too.

I guess I'll stick to decals, make up a nice big Sundance symbol and stick it on the hood... When I have money to spend on prettying her up :P
