How do you guys find swap meets, anyway?

Following this thread. Ive always wondered this myself.
I used to be in the 'local' brony group but it was never my scene. Id much rather connect with the collector crowd

I was at a brony convention this weekend selling art, and I knew it wasn't really my scene but I was hoping to run into some new collector friends, or at least find some older ponies for sale! I got a bunch of g2s from a box a seller had under the table, but.... I mean, there was a lot of lovely fanart for sale but I was hoping there would actually be people there selling.... ponies? There were two sellers there selling new stuff like funko vinyls and stuff but. Nothing out of box, nothing older, nothing collectible. There were some customs! That was nice!

I dunno. I would rather go to a more collector focused event.

That's too bad, guys! This past year BABSCon, an San Francisco Brony con, had two people selling early gen ponies! I have made early gen fan friends at Brony cons, too. They do exist! I find walking around with a G1 helps. Old gen fans notice and say hello, and interested bronies ask friendly questions like if you've had it since you were a kid. (No, I just bought Sweet Pop that weekend!) It's fun! I guess not true of all brony cons, but BABScon is as close as I get to a west coast pony fair. Good luck to you in finding a fun collector community!

I'm a little confused, did you mean swap meets or pony meets?

For me thats the same meeting up in a house or location swap ponies and have fun with each other

i mean I can't confidentally say I know the difference since I've never been to either, I can assume pony meets are generally a day thing wjth activities and swaps are just.... Show up with your stuff to swap but, again, i dunno

Realistically i don't know how to find either tho and that makes me sad

ah, that makes sense!!
In the area I live in, a swap meet is what we call a big yard sale/flea market type set up, usually run by a local church or lion club or something; like there's an auto swap meet at the end of this month at the fairgrounds?  you pay a flat fee to get a space, and sell whatever, but it's only once or twice a year instead of weekly or monthly like a flea market.
