GoH NM: First Impression
« on: August 05, 2016, 02:33:22 PM »
Hey all I thought since I haven't really seen very much in the way of photos for GoH figures (as far as what people think about them) I decided to do one since I bought Nightmare Moon a few days ago. Please note that all my images for this are on DA Sta.sh due to Photobucket being a pain in the pony tail.

Click on the spoilers for images

So first off on packaging. It's Ok, NM's box was all bent up compared to the two Celestia that was on shelf as well, this was the only NM there.
It gives you a nice view of the pony and if the box was not so bent up then you could keep her in there and just shine a light through the top and display her that way. The sides of the box is just another Graphic of her in-show are and the front view of the figure. The backdrop in the package is the Castle of the Two Sisters, which if they had done the packaging differently that could be saved for other photo backdrops for other figures.

Now for the figure itself!
NM stands at about 8" tall, which includes her wispy hair. She does stand on her own due to having support from her tail. Certain points of her hooves do not make 100% contact with the ground.

Her wings are the only thing pose-able on her. Both wings are set on a ball joint that allows them to pivot to a certain point. I only took one shot of the wings moved because that is all that I needed

I do love her dynamic pose and if I wanted to dish out another $20 I'm sure she could be customed to have the legs move at least a little bit given how they look to be attached to her. However, as with every Hasbro toy figure there are some problems that may vary between the figures.. NM is no exception to the rule.

Aside from box damage (which I know was due to the shipping to the store), my NM has a few other notable things going on with her.
First of all was her paint job. On the side I could see I did note there was paint chipped/blotted on her helmet, there is also paint missing along the edge of her chest piece on the DS. On her NDS there were more small paint errors on her helmet and collar. I also noted that the edges of her ear chipped and her horn towards the front doesn't seem to be fully set (no photo of this because I spotted it after the photo shoot). Her shoes seem to be trying to separate from her rear hooves though that could have been due to heat in the car.

As far as how she compares in size to other ponies. Since she is rearing she is taller than the normal Brushable Nightmare Moon.

As far as ratings go I give the packaging an 8/10 because it's still kind of blah, the figure itself a 9/10 only because she looks like she should have other points of articulation and does not, the paint job and other QC a 6/10 due to having similar issues with the rest of the MLP lines and Funkos for her price.

Over all she is a 7/10, other than a few factory issues she is still a great figure for her price.

Thanks for the review! My NMM is on her way, but I didn't want to have to take her out of her box to see the wing pivot-ability

I have both Celestia and Nightmare Moon, and love them both. Though, I think I like Nightmare Moon a bit better. Really like the ball joint wings and the glittery "starry" mane. But overall, both are definitely nice pieces.

I just bought Celestia today, but I think there is enough info out there for her that I don't need to do any review picture stuff XD

She is, Celestia is jut weird it her pose altogether.. Also can someone confirm something for me. The pink stripe in Celestia's tail, does it go ALL the way to the tip?

Post Merge: August 06, 2016, 09:04:31 PM

And I'm debating on getting the 2nd Celestia at Walmart to custom.. But that's $20 and I have no idea how well that would work

what is the texture of the pony?  wings? etc? it is slick and plastic or soft sort of cottony?
