Just any FYI (because I didn't know till Shadowlark told me, thank you!) Canada post may be going on Strike after July 1st/2nd. I just wanted to spread the word in case you're ordering anything from Canada or shipping to/within Canada. It's not a definite from what I've been reading, just a possibility.

Ugh. I remember the incident in the U.S. that started the slang "going postal" As long as they keep it peaceful, hopefully a resolution can be found quickly.

I'm really hoping they settle in time. I have a package to ship out in the new few weeks - would rather not do it via courier :( and it's going to be horrible for the Etsy community.

I mail stuff constantly at work - this is SUCH a disaster!  :(  Not to mention, most people don't have the knowledge to order up a courier for either direction!  They just stick it in the mail, and think it'll get there.  USPS feeds right into CanadaPost!  So does Royal Mail!  :(

Yes, this is looking bad and will be a mess if it happens. I'm in the middle of swaps and the delay to get stuff out the door is going to be a big pain. Further, the government doesn't want to get involved because when the last post strike happened in 2011 and government intervened it was later determined that this was unethical. Meaning this could go on for a -long- time. I hope it all gets resolved quickly, but I'm worried.

The post itself did not / has not locked the workers out yet, and the union for the workers is saying that the earliest they will strike is Wednesday. Grrr... I wish they would just sort the mess out--they've been trying to reach an agreement since before Christmas. Puts anyone with swap boxes to send--among other things, no doubt!--into a really awkward position. I don't want my partners' items to get lost / damaged / stuck, but I don't want to make people wait if it's unnecessary, either. Ugh!
