Would you pay by money order?

Obviously strictly locally. But I kinda wondered if people would be willing to pay for something this way. Im just looking for personal opinions.

Im trying to sell my collection, as well as get back into customs/drawing commissions, but im sorta afraid to open a new paypal. Its not like im actually going to request people pay this way, like I said, just kinda wondering how people feel about it. I know its a pretty big hassle when paypal has made online buying so easy, but I might make it an available option, IF people were willing or if they didnt have a paypal themselves.

I've been on ebay since before Paypal, so I don't have any problem paying with money orders - as long as the seller has a good reputation.  Since it's now the exception instead of the rule, I'm a bit more cautious about it.  I've done it lots of times before.  I prefer not to have to go down to the post office and wait through that line, but I'll do it. 

A bit of advice - only accept postal money orders.  There are(or at least were) a lot of places that would sell money orders, and random liquor store money orders are A LOT easier to fake.  Also, it used to be mostly accepted that a seller could ask to wait until the money order cleared before shipping, like a personal check(which is another viable method - if you wait for clearance). The clear time is about 2-3 weeks to make sure, though I *think* if you take a postal money order to the post office, they can cash it right there, avoiding the wait time entirely(I'm not sure about that - you'd have to double check). Many buyers will complain about a 2-3 week delay when ebay has made the ship within 24 hours thing common.  If it's a legitimate postal money order, I think it should clear quicker even if the post office doesn't cash it.

I have before by some very gracious and patient people on here and the TP, but that won't be satisfactory for everyone. I also don't feel comfortable doing it because so much can go wrong and I feel it might be more of a hassle to the seller. .

My boyfriend lets me use his card, but he doesn't have a paypal account. I tried using it twice on two different model horse boards and it didn't work and I had to cancel and explain things.

Those are the reasons I seldom buy on boards. I don't want to annoy people or have a transaction go sour. The people here are really nice and I feel bad and embarrassed turning them down so often.

I won't and simply because one had too many bad experiences with them. It's not even just with ponies but other collection items or like when I bought my dog ages ago I did one as a deposit. With some of the things that went wrong I don't feel safe paying with them. I don't mean anything against you as a seller in saying this, and I'm

I wouldn't unless I absolutely had to. No real reason, just that it's a hassle.

Nope. It really sums down to I don't have time for it. But all the other negative things people are mentioning also apply.

Why wouldn't you just be able to accept cash, or even get a Square reader for your phone to accept cards? I would pay by money order if I wanted something badly enough, but something I was on the fence about to begin with would cause me not to buy it.

I did all the time before paypal but right now it would cost me more for the MO itself so isn't worth it.

I used to pay that way on Ebay..back in the day too. It was pretty easy to get a Postal MO as long as its not an International MO
I never had any issues with sellers - except once. Some lady in Canada called me every day day asking where her $ was and I had to tell her every time that I am in Alaska, it will take time to get to Canada.

I wouldn't because it's a hassle and you also have to pay for the money order.
