Your favorite anime recommendations

Thirding (?) Tokyo Mew Mew and Madoka and seconding The Cat Returns, I love that film! Most Ghibli films are great, too. ^^

I'm not so good at sorting things into genres, but I also recommend Ojamajo Doremi (my favourite!!), Lucky Star (and the spin-off Miyakawa-ke no Kuufuku) and Midori no Hibi (it's got a weird premise but I promise, it's better than it sounds! It does get a bit raunchy/NSFW for times but there's nothing too bad).

Bo bo bo (with like a million more Bos following) is my all-time favorite because it's so nonsensical and silly and makes one's brain hurt if they try to make sense of it (my husband did and that was his first mistake) but can't find it anywhere but youtube.

Long running series: There are none I've stuck with/watched all the way through... Inuyasha, probably.

Dark/horror: Hellsing, Evangelion, Zankyou no Terror (and pretty much anything else Shinichirou Watanabe directed), No.6, Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, Death Note

Slice of life: Tamako Market, Free!, Genshiken

Comedy: Space Dandy

Romance: Shounen-ai: Loveless, Hybrid Child, Doukyuusei, Super Lovers. Shoujo: Say I Love You

Spin off series: I don't think I've watched any

Short series/movie/ova: Mamoru Hosoda movies: Summer Wars, The Boy and the Beast, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, (I still need to watch Wolf Children myself). Miyazaki movies: Only Yesterday, Howl's Moving Castle, Whisper of the Heart, really anything...

Just plain weird: FLCL, Crayon Shin-Chan, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Baccano!, Fruits Basket, Kuroshitsuji,

Long time anime fan here. I have many series that I like.


Magical girl: Pretear, Wedding Peach, Sailor Moon (can also fit long running series LOL), Cardcaptor Sakura

Long running series: I don't watch a lot of long running ones.....I guess Kyo Kara Maoh could fit this and maybe Fullmetal Alchemist. I didn't like FMA: Brotherhood at all though.

Dark/horror: Hell Girl, Ghost Hunt (really scary if the paranormal freaks you out), Descendants of Darkness

Slice of life: Maria Watches Over Us, Kamichu,

Comedy: Girls Bravo (very adult), B Gata H Kei (also very adult)

Romance: Marmalade Boy, Peach Girl, Boys Over Flowers, Gravitation, Junjou Romantica, Say I Love You, Strawberry Panic, Kashimashi, Fushigi Yuugi,

Spin off series:

I'd also recommend Kaleido Star. It doesn't really fit any of these categories but it's amazing.
