Do you flaunt your ponies?

No. I'm pretty reserved about my ponies, though not out of fear of judgement. It just isn't something that comes up in conversations, you know?

Edit: Like all of my collections, they're kept in the closet / storage bins to prevent sun damage, so not any people get to see them, either.

Do you photograph them and look at the photos instead? That's kinda what I do.at the moment.

My ponies are all mixed in with my art dolls and other things that I love-  I have them all out in cabinets in the upstairs hallway (since I lost my crafty room).

I like having them where I can walk by them every day- it makes me very pleased to look at my treasures. I must be part dragon...

I would love to have them out on display, I used to, but due to circumstances it's just not possible anymore at the moment.

I do flaunt them in a way, because on a day out, we often bring ponies.

I'm very reserved with my ponies--most of my closest friends don't even know I collect them. I think i'm still overcoming some insecurities of mine which make me a bit afraid of what they'll say if they saw them. I flaunt them for myself by keeping them on my bookshelf in my room--it's not like I have time to read anyway.

Now, if I had a craft room, it would be ponified very quickly....

I live with my parents, so I don't really have a say in decoration. Although they have one of my music decorations in the living room right now, I suppose that's just because we're saving it for my apartment in a few months.

My ponies remain back in my room. I have a small collection.

When I get my apartment I'm not sure where I'll put them. I'll probably keep them back in my bedroom. That wouldn't really be flaunting them, because I very much doubt I'll ever bring anyone back there.  (my love life = nonexistent. and has been that way for years now)

Right now mine are in boxes because I'm redoing parts of the house over the summer. I have massive glass cabinets they are going in near my kitchen and my Breyers have a China cabinet going in the living room. I plan to eventually get another China cabinet to go in the guest room with ponies. I personally try to avoid any room being full of them or having them everywhere because clutter bothers me, like I'm a little ocd about it and spacing them out makes me feel less cluttered.

I do think it's funny to have them in guests rooms since you know when you have people over they are going to have to look at them at night so if it's the purpose of not scaring people guest rooms won't help either.

Part of my problem is hanging onto someone for too long... Now it's like I fell off the face of the planet to them.

My heart gets me into these kinds of situations.

Anyway a slight bit more on-topic? I'm so excited for my apartment... More like "nervouscited"... But I'm really excited to be able to decorate for myself. I think I might even look for some MLP posters! ^_^

I'm kind of in between!  While I don't necessarily bring up the fact that I have huge pony collection, I also don't actively hide it.  If it comes up in conversation somehow, then I'll say that I have them and maybe show a couple of pictures depending on the person.  My closest friends all know about them, and they often are the people who get texted pictures of my latest acquisitions.  One of my friends likes the the FiM cartoon, so she is especially interested in my herd even though she doesn't collect ponies herself.  She wants me to show her some of the G1 episodes, though, so that will be fun.  I'm the same way with my other collections, too, especially my model horses.  I'm more relaxed about my anime collection because a lot of my friends are anime fans, too, so it tends to come up more regularly.

My ponies live in a corner cabinet in our bedroom with my Lullaby Nursery living on my chest of drawers.  (Hubby and I have a set each so he puts what he wants on his and I put what I want on mine!)

I'm not sure what will happen as the collection grows but thankfully there's plenty of space in the cabinet for now so I don't have to worry just yet

Im totally in awe of some of those who have whole rooms for their collections, I have an extremely tolerant husband but I'm not sure I could go that far!

As for who sees/knows about the collection, people rarely see them what with the ponies living in our bedroom.  My Mum seems to think I'm a bit childish for still liking them but hubbys family  don't have a problem with it and have been known to help hubby source ponies for me!

Same! A lot of people who know me know I collect, but it's not the first thing I say about myself when I meet someone new.

When I do reveal I collect, it's a "yeah I collect 80's MLP" and generally people - especially women - say "I used to have those! I loved them!" Collection photos are usually a lot for muggles to absorb, so I'm careful with whom I share them with.

One of my best friends, who genuinely loves my ponies, posted a photo of my collection to her popular instagram account. She very innocently wanted to show it off, but a lot of people left horrifically vicious comments on it. She quickly deleted it, but it took me a long time to get over it. I was really embarrassed and I hated the way those mean people made me feel.

But I've come a long way since then and I understand now when people are mean it's not because of me - it's because of them and their problems. My ponies make me so happy and I won't let anyone take that feeling away from me.

When I was able to display my collection, they always had their own room. Not because I didn't want others to know, but because the cats love the ponies too. I'd rather the kitties not always knock the ponies down. They can come in when I am in the Pony Room, but not by themselves. I always had my computer in the Pony Room too. So I was in there a lot. I haven't been able to display them for years now. Which is pretty sad, but we keep moving....

When I first started collecting ponies I had a spare room I kept them in and they were rarely seen by anyone else. I prefer it that way. When I moved to a smaller space I tried having them out in the living room for a while and, honestly, got sick of everyone who came in going, "wow, ponies!" so I took them down. (The fact that they were getting more sunlight and dust than I was comfortable with played a role as well.) I'm not embarrassed by my collection or anything but I just don't want it to be the first thing people notice when walking into my place. They stood out too much.

They make really easy to install shelves that you can put in any room. Mine are up high on the wall for the most part. It saves them from sunlight and I'm tall enough to enjoy.

I mostly laugh at their reactions. The people who know me, know that the ponies are good for me. I wish I had enough to fill a room. Maybe someday. I'm not that old yet. My daughter will keep it going, too.
