Any Beared Dragon owners update see last post

Hi,

There was a bearded dragon at work and when I left both lights were on (red and other light) . I checked my instructions for the day and didn't see any regarding the bearded dragon. Will the bearded dragon be okay overnight if both lights are left on?

Just for one night?  I'm sure he will be fine.

But regularly he or she should get periods of light and darkness, or it can be bad for his/her mental health just like any other animal.

I don't own one but am very familiar with them- they are VERY cool friendly intelligent lizards that make excellent pets.

I think they will be fine, Galactica hit the nail on the head. Day and night cycles are important for their sleep, they sleep best when it is dark. They should be fine, as long as they can cool off from the lights as well. One night should not be bad.

I own two of the boogers  :P

I've got a beadie, she is a 4 yr old! :3 She is my adorable little pancake

Beardies should be fine with the lights on for only one night. It may be hard for them to sleep, but they will be fine as long as they have a cooling area. They do need darkness at night though or it can mess up their metabolism just like most reptiles. When our power went out during the severe ice storms we have to leave a portable lamp on 24/7 to keep her warm but of course this was short term. I've got her lights on a timer, twelve hours of day and light.

See if your work beardie friend is on timers, if not let your supervisor know they need lights off at night!

Thanks everyone. I'm usually really good about asking should this be left on/off but today I totally forgot to ask someone and didn't realize until I got home that I should have asked if both lights should stay on.

It's only for one night. The person that usually handles him will be there in the morning. I don't know about the cooling area since this was the first time in a long time I've been where the bearded dragon is.

Yeah, like everyone has said. They probably should have gone off, but one night shouldn't matter too much. He just might be grumpy tomorrow. :silly:

I went back to check on him today and found out his basking light is on a timer so it goes on and off automatically. Thanks everyone. :)
