Instagram?

Hey everyone.

I recently set up an instagram to easily transfer traditional sketches from my phone to my computer (I can't figure out how to make my phone connect to my computer and emailing in bulk is a hassle  ). Besides the fact I'm completely confused with the app/site in general, I have questions for all you arena members who use instagram.

1)Can you edit a photo after uploading it or would I have to resubmit if I want to fix/change the image? When I click edit, it just let's me change the initial comment or tag people, I'm not sure if I'm missing something there.

2)Is it possible to save pictures to your hard drive from your own account and/or copy pictures and post them elsewhere (ie: here on the arena)? And, if yes, how?

3)Google is telling me if I want to upload things from my computer I need to install a program to for my computer, which isn't associated with instagram. Anyone upload things this way? Is it recommended?

4)In general, what is the instagram community like? Is it like a Tumblr 2.0 or is it...less obnoxious?

1. To my knowledge, you'd have to reupload the photo if you wanted to edit it after it's been posted.

2. If I understand the question, I wanna say you can't save a photo directly from IG to your computer, assuming "right clicking on the pic with the mouse and selecting the Save/Cope picture option" doesnt work. For the second part,  if you mean like how some sites have a "Wanna share this image? Copy and paste this URL!" section, IG does have that (although I don't know how it looks like on a desktop computer layout, if that makes sense). Usually when you go look at a image on mobile,  there is three vertical dots on the corner you can click on, and it gives you the option to share the photo.

3. I honestly didn't know that is an option, because last I had checked, you couldnt upload pics to your IG account on a desktop computer/laptop. So I coudlnt help out on this question.

4. To me, the IG community is much nicer/chill than Tumblr (granted, you do have some trolls/jerks on IG). I find that IG tends to be more "positive without having to start uneeded drama".
Granted, I say this as someone that currently has a love-hate thing with Tumblr due to a show's fandom becoming toxic on it the last few times I was on the site.

I hope my answers have helped, at least a little. I am still unsure about a few things on IG, even thought I've had it for years. xD

I would just like to suggest another option if you want to transfer pictures and that is to install Dropbox. You create a user and download the app on your phone and the program on your computer and it will transfer the pictures automatically to the folder it has created on your desktop. It's really easy and you don't even have to do anything, it'll do it automatically.

Thanks so much everyone. Milky your answers help a lot! I did mean right clicking to copy/save an image. On my laptop it only has an embed option, which comes with a very lengthy code; I guess instagram is just generally a phone app before a computer website. I do see the share option on my phone, so I'll just use that if I want to post pictures. Thanks!

Beldarna: I would have never thought to use dropbox! My phone is even an android and has dropbox pre-installed! It's so obvious, I feel dumb. Thank you!

1. You can't replace or edit photos once they've been posted.

2. There are services which will log and save and email your own photos do you. For saving other people's photos, there are apps / screenshot tricks / view on a computer and save.

3. Instagram is app based, so it wants you to upload from an app. Instagram itself doesn't allow direct uploading of photos from your computer unless you do it via FB (upload to FB and share it on Insta from your computer) 

4. People are pretty cool on Instagram for the most part

I actually use IG to upload pictures from my phone to my computer, but it's a really roundabout way to do it. I post a picture on IG then look it up on my computer and save a screenshot. Then if I want to post that photo on the arena or something, I upload the photo to photobucket. Alternately, I sometimes use Google Docs to save photos from my phone and access them from my computer.

Photobucket is also handy for photo storage/sharing/transfer from phone to PC!

Thanks for your input Dragonfly. My Facebook and Instagram are under different emails and I'd rather not link them, but that's good to know if I ever change my mind.
