Argentina G1's
« on: March 20, 2016, 07:04:56 AM »
Having rekindled my love for G1's, Argentinian ponies are slowly becoming my new favourites, just because their colours are so beautiful.

But I was wondering how rare/sought after they are? I've seem some that are priced between the $100-$200. Is that a fair price range? Do they come up very often too?

 as a non variant expert....

I got three of these (one who has a new happy home) in a trade for a non pony collection as a surprise. I love them. but just certain ones. I would watch ebay and make note of end prices and save a picture. Making sure I was referencing a price for the identical pony when another came up for sale, which seemed to happen often enough. many don't seem super rare or anything. (I see things like upside down, vs. not upside down symbols) differing hair colours making them go for more or less. The hair has a bit of a lesser quality feel to me, and some colours are a bit like fading pink so they can also fade out to a whitish. There are so so many different ones! so I also looked through galleries and such and narrowed down have a folder of my favorites . I don't want to spend my money on one I think is "ok pretty" and then see one I really want pop up after spending cash was gone.

Two of mine were fall off the card, the third was gross! her hair looked like a dish pad- dense dense dense mass. most would re-root. I was able to smooth it again very carefully tiny sections at a time with a flat iron. So while the hair felt fragile it did tolerate the heat really well. While not perfect- she at least looks like she has actual HAIR and not the universes worst 80's perm. :P so maybe looking for damage like that can make them more affordable? more for your money? if they are gross inside, I believe most do not have glued on heads, the DNW babies do, but not the adults I have (I might be mixing that up with another variant) So if you get any it does make checking for evidence of re-rooted hair easier. After making my folder is when my spending money totally dried up, and it's been that way for two years so any of my prices are so very very outdated!

I hope something in all of this is helpful to you in some way. I don't know what restore skills you have, or what condition is a dealbreaker to you. anyway, this is my listmaking process.

I have three Argie babies that I got on ebay, and each were between $20-$40. They aren't in perfect shape (the cheapest one has writing on it), but they're still adorable. :)

I love, love, love Argie babies. Their colors are so bright, and they made babies for ponies that did not get babies in the China/HK releases. That's how I got started with them, I wanted a baby for Posey because she was always one of my favorite early ponies.

Then this happened:

And then I started buying some of the adults, and got into other nirvana countries. Argie babies were like my gateway drug.  :whoa:

I've paid under $100 for most of my babies, under $50 for the FT's. I found the majority of mine on eBay. They come up fairly often as nirvanas go, but often they will be in poor condition so if you are picky it may take a while to find the ones you want. The adults can certainly get quite pricy, and many of the rarer ones go for more than the $100-200 mark for sure. With shipping from Argentina, you're also looking at a minimum of another $15-20 tacked on, as well.
