Baby Drummers Berlin Adventures
« on: March 18, 2016, 12:31:36 PM »
Hi there :)
Yesterday my family and me had a wonderful trip to Germanys capitol Berlin! It was the first time in years and the first time ever for me to explore Berlin on my / our own and I can tell you : we had an amazing day! But... we didnt travel alone! I took Baby Drummer with me and let him have some cute little adventures! Its time for sharing some pics!

Baby Drummer has been with me for some years now. He was a rescue having a chewed ear but I still love him and he is great for modelling the baby suits (those without shoes lol). So, yesterday (March 17th 2016) was his big day, he travelled to Berlin with us! He got  dressed as an easter bunny since its not long until easter anymore (and I thought it was fun to see, lol).

Heeeere we go!!

Baby Drummer visiting Berlin!

Our first stop after entering the city was the Museumsinsel ("museum island") They have a wonderful lot of really intersting museums we really wanted to visit! But before we entered any of them, Baby Drummer was brave enough to encounter one of the famous Berliner Bären figures they have standing around in the city. They are part of an art project and all have the same pose but are painted really different, so each one is a bright piece of art!

The Museumsinsel is right next to the river Spree. Baby Drummer of course had to have a look down from the bridge !

The firt Museum we entered was the Pergamon Museum. They show a wonderful collection of antique art, islamic and middel east art.
Here you can see Baby Drummer proudly standing on a part of the stone facade of the caliph castle Mschatta which they have opened for visitors. You can sit there on a terrace and look down or just stand in front of it.

Lol yeah and this is me up there... "Are you done?" Im asking my husband who took this pic, lol.

Baby Drummer even got braver the farther we walked. Here he is posing with a lion! (Well, the museum guard didnt like us doing this kind of pics, so we had to hold him instead of putting him down somewhere :P This is my hubby holding him, I took the pic.)

The next stop was the Neue Museum (new museum) where they have an exhibition of ancient egypt !! This one was my favourite! Im have huge interest in ancient egypt and just loved the visit!! I took tons of photos, god knows what I will do with all that stuff, lol. We also saw the original Queen Nofretete bust there but it was forbidden to take pics sadly. Im still kind of shaking when thinking of the moment I looked her in the eye <3 It was amazing!!

Baby Drummer was there too of course, I carried him around in my pocket since we were not allowed to bring any bags or jackets.

There we go, Im really sad this pic got so blurry. Can you spot Drummer? Hes sitting on my head :P We are in the cellar on that pic where they keep the mummies and everything about ancient egypt afterlife.

But museums and art wasnt the only reason for us to visit! We also took a tour to show our daughter some historical places.
One stop was Checkpoint Charlie, one of Berlins most famous border stations! Sadly Baby Drummers pic got lost, I cant seem to find it on the harddrive :/

Here though he is in our car when we were looking for a parking spot :P

After haging out for a while we decided it was finally time to have a meal. Here he is posing at McDonalds right next to CPC!

We visited some more historical or otherwise interesting places in Berlin but I dont have pics from all those. Instead have a look at Baby Drummer helping us find a geocache near Checkpoint Charlie! This one was tricky, lol. Really tricky. This grey box was boldly visible all the time but none of us thought it really was the geocache XD

Sadly all great days have an end. It got dark around 6pm when we finally reached the Brandenburger Tor! Im sure, Baby Drummer had a day as great as we had! He will accompany us again when we take the next trip :) I hope you have enjoyed the pics!!

We really had a nice day and saw some great things! Here are some more pics (without Baby Drummer though) to show a bit more from our trip!

Btw, While we visited some amazing places we saw banners advertising the DVD release of Season 5 of Game of Thrones... when I finally took time to read what it was saying I almost freaked out!! Im a huge fan and they were advertising a special event at the local Saturn (a technics market were you can buy DVDs, TVs, fridges and household stuff and such). The event included a photo session with one or more of the famous characters (not the actors sadly but well lol). When we arrived there it was already over buuuuut : the people were still there and still in costumes and they took one final pic from me with a White Walker <3 had it framed today, its soooo great lol. (Im such a nerd but that made my day perfect XD)

Ok, its a really bad pic, I will scan the original and show it later... crappy handy pic XD But still... me and a White Walker <3 <3

I'm an avid Berlin hater, but I looooooooooove the Museumsinsel! And I totally had the same feeling when I saw Nofretete with my own eyes! Imagine they would be really finding her tomb right now!
Thank you for sharing the pics! Looks like Baby Drummer and you had a great time! You caught a great day with nice weather!

Ah, so cute! I love doing this with ponies. In Helsinki and Prague both I had G4 ponies bought in the country that I have some photos of. Probably the best ones are of Applejack in Helsinki, especially at the quay, because the people in Finland are awesome and literally don't even care if you're taking photos of places with a small plastic thing posed in front of them. Nobody even looked at me weird. So nice :)

Prague it was a little more difficult but I have some pretty pictures of Cadence in Vysehrad, looking over the city.

Sadly I have never been to Berlin. My only visit to Germany was Dresden, two years ago.

When my sister went to Korea, and also Malaysia etc, she and her partner took a small wind up toy they call Egg Pirate. Given all the places they've been to, I genuinely think Egg Pirate needs his own travel blog. :)
