G4 fading?
« on: March 24, 2016, 09:33:35 PM »
hi guys! Im having a bit of trouble, I've no idea how it happened but Twilight's head is totally faded! She hasn't spent much time in sunlight at all but its just been getting paler over time ;v; not necessarily paler either its just like... a totally different hue! anyway, is there anything I can do about this? It's fine if I have to remove her eyes, I'm going to give her a custom face up anyway.

Pictures here! http://sta.sh/215gspeau3fn

I have the same problem with my G4 Twilight and noticed with older g4s.
I can only assume its because they used different plastic from the body compared to the head.

It's really sad that G4's are having problems this quickly, hopefully not all of them will suffer the same fate.

it seems like a lot of the earlier g4's arent as high quality as the later ones; pretty much all of my first wave g4's have the mismatched heads + bodies that you've mentioned, as well as general sloppiness (misaligned eyes, extra paint on the cutie marks, etc.)

i haven't noticed any similar problems on my later ones though, so i think there's some hope! :-)

Totally normal for the G4s with their utter and total lack of quality!

Most of the G4s were made with at least some degree of head/body mismatch, weren't they? I've noticed it on almost all of mine :(

We will see issues faster in modern toys. The stabilizers in the pigments of older toys are not in the new ones (they're banned). :) So while 82' blossom can handle indirect sunlight for years from the sun setting and going across the pony shelf she's sitting on and look ok the new ones can NOT handle it. It's not hasbro trying to make a worse quality product.

I found a zilla twilight sparkle for a friend at VV. The pony already had large patches of fading on her body. her hair was fine. she looked never played with. usually if a body on the old toys is that faded, the hair is long fried too. so G4 do fade so easily. I leave so many behind that look too baity for me because of fading alone.

You can keep them fade free. :) no natural light period (UV blocking window film, blinds) and use LED bulbs for lighting instead of compact florescent or incandescent. Not allowing your toy room to get too warm also prevents premature degradation as well.

G4s have a lot more color issues than any other generation. I know G2s only had real issues with the ponies with movable parts as far as the color department...

When the G4 line started there was already issues with mismatched heads and bodies (fun fact, shine a black light on the ones who are more notable mismatched.. the heads and bodies don't glow the same XD)
