What to buy for a Dr Who fan?
« on: February 29, 2016, 09:08:48 AM »
One of my oldest friends is turning 30 in April and she's crazy about Dr Who and so far I've bought a Tardis cookie jar (lights up & makes sounds when opened) and a Dr Who necklace. But I would like to fill up that cookie jar with some kind of sweets associated with the show. So, Dr Who fans, help a girl out!

Do they sell Jelly Babies where you are? That was a candy the 4th Doctor liked. If you like to bake there are all kinds of Doctor Who cookie cutters out there that you could use and then give her the cookie cutters as a bonus gift.

Second the jelly babies! Jammy dodgers also might be good, since they are biscuits. {11th doctor said something about that I think}

Thanks for the tips! ^.^ I've managed to find a Swedish webshop that imports British sweets/cookies and I've found both Jelly Babies and Jammie Dodgers! :lol:

Will await to order in case anybody else has more suggestions; the cookie jar is quite big. :)

Make some cookies--and give her the cookie cutters used to make them (think geek has a set of 5 but im sure other places have them as well..its officially licensed stuff).

Just look around.

OH, I remembered another one. 9 and I think 10 had a thing for bananas. If you could find banana shaped candy/treats that would work.

11 liked fish fingers and custard. I've usually seen this recreated with a cookie covered in crushed graham crackers or toasted coconut then either custard or colored white chocolate for dipping.

There is a chocolate shop near a friend of mine that sells TARDIS and Dalek shaped chocolates. If you lived closer I could ship them to you. But I'm not sure how well they would survive a trip to Sweden.  ^^;

The thing is, I'm both lazy and horrible at baking, so I'm looking for ready-to-eat sweets. ^.^

Doctor Who food items are in somewhat short supply.  There's a few things from the show, but not many.  And they really haven't done much to merchandise it with candy/cookies/treats. Most of the stuff you do see is fan made.  They do have a few home goods(cake molds, cookie cutters, ice cube trays, etc), but it's quite a hunt to some of it.  If you can't find enough to fill your cookie jar(I have one, I know how big it is), you could always fill the bottom with treats, and then have a plush Doctor bursting out the top.  They've been making Doctor Who plushes for a while.  You can find the 10th, 11th, and 12th Doctors in plush form, as well as K-9, Cybermen, and Daleks.

http://merchandise.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/category/toys/plush-toys/

Most of these are readily available on ebay and any place that has a significant Doctor Who selection.  They also come in a few different sizes(keychain size and up).  A medium one should fit in the cookie jar with the lid half open and the bottom mostly filled with treats.  You'll probably have to remove it from its box though.

Doctor Who is actually one of my bigger collections, so if you want any other help with ideas or finding things, feel free to PM me:)
