Best way of selling capsule toys?
« on: November 04, 2016, 05:18:05 PM »
So what would be the best way to sell a bunch on gashapon/ capsule toys from various anime?  I've never used Ebay, and honestly, it's a bit scary, lol.

I have things that should do well, (sailor moon etc.), but the ones I want to sell aren't complete sets.  Does anyone have any advice for getting the best value out of a random collection?

Should I list them as a lot from each show, or individually?

Sell them individually at first, and if they fail to sell, then list what left over as a lot.
I think lots tend to work best if it's the entire set of a gashapon series, or are a group of mostly popular characters.
Depending on what characters you have, they wouldn't be too difficult to sell. In some cases, they may go quickly if its a Fan favorite.

I've sold a bit of my capsule toy/gashapon/rement collections on eBay in the past, and indiviaully seemed to work best for me.
Thank you so much for the adoptable, Corona! :D

Thanks, that's very helpful!  What kind of return did you get for yours, if I can ask? I'm not looking to make huge profits, but I'd definitely like to make more than I paid.

The sailor moon stuff I'm not worried about, some of that is pretty high value, but some of the other series are pretty obscure.  Inuyasha, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Naruto are the other big name series.

(Ironically, one of the nicest sets I have is from a magical girl show no-one in the states seems to know at all, lol. It's called Ojamajo DoReMi, and I was seriously hooked when I lived in Japan. It had some *incredibly* cute toys too!)

I have a *ton* of figures though, so listing them all separately is a little daunting. Hmmm... what kind of prices range would a full set of gashapon figures normally go for with a well known series? Ebay and google are conflicted on the matter.

I certainly made most (if not all) of the money back, if that made sense.  It varied depending in which one I sold. xD Since i woild tend to do a buy a full case/set and sell the ones I dont want, that usually worked in my favor.

As far as price checking, eBay would be a bit more accurate, since you can filter it to where it shows you how much a listing/item has sold for, and how recently it was.  It's quite helpful if you decide to sell on there.

Depending on character, you shouldn't have a hard time with InuYasha, CCSakura, or Naruto. If I may ask, what other series did you have?

And I remember Ojamajo Doremi! I do know that there was A US dub of it for a short time, called Magical DoReMi.

I have several random figures that are cute, but even I don't remember what show they're from, lol. Something I liked back then, but was ultimately forgettable, I guess.  Some figures I bought just because they had cool, pony-sized weapons, heh. (pic-fic fun!)

I also have a lot of Fullmetal Alchemist things, and I wasn't going to sell those, but I've started considering it. I really need to lose some stuff.  I also have a few keychains and a bunch of  magnets from this and that, and a whole box of CCS gashapons and figures. A few gundam wing things, and a set of rather unusual paint-your-own figures from sailor moon. I snagged them because they were weird, but I figure they'll do okay.  I can't find anything like them on ebay, anyway.

Funnily enough, the one really valuable set I have, I'd rather go naked than sell, lol.  Isn't that always the way, though?

They dubbed Doremi? I totally missed that. I guess it didn't do as well here. :( I know it was crazy popular over in Japan. My students thought it was hilarious that I watched it, but I'd just tell them "Look, I speak about the same level of Japanese as this show's target audience, ok? No mocking my anime choices.' lol.

I used to watch the dubbed version of that... it's so cute!

Right? I loved Doremi. I'd watch every episode with a silly grin on my face. It made me so happy.  I wish it had made it over here, it's really a great show.

Oh, Eternia, I can probably do that...after my niece goes back to school, haha. No free time for me this last week. But she'll be occupied again tomorrow, and I'm taking pics anyway, so I can probably manage a big one.

In looking up prices, I discovered that my beloved tiny food collection could easily buy my plane ticket for when I move.
...Buuuut I'm not willing to sell it. :lookround: I'm hopeless.

my face when I saw how much some of it was selling for -->
