I think that what may be the issue is that there are shifts in the type of hair being used as well. Or rather, I sound like I know what I'm talking about, and I don't, but what I mean is that Clover and Baby Stargaze comment, that's very much the case. A lot of the ponies in these later years have a slightly different quality to their hair. It's like the tinsel is different in the hair for the Jewel babies than it is from earlier ponies, and the family friends and family babies have entirely different hair with the horizantal stripes.

I haven't compared Hopscotch and Fireball though that may or may not relate to batch.

Moondancer is pretty close to Snoepjes. I haven't done an exact comparison, though, because my Snoepjes is MOC.

Bon Bon is a later G1 from European line so I think it is possible she doesn't have an earlier pony exact match. Love Petal maybe? I can't think off the top of my head of any other G1 pony from 1993-4 that has BonBon's hair colour.

Oh, possibly Princess Sparkle...? That might be the same...?

What is a Snoepjes?

I also imagine that you are right.
Like how DH sometimes says "the mfr did a bit too much X" and created something like Unlucky Clover, the same thing or even a different hair co could have been used in Europe for those later ponies that never got to the USA like Tales characters.

The family horizontal stripes were differently textured though, because their dye process was different from Dabble Scribble's process. I had heard the hair had a different texture to retain the certain type of dye used to make them. Like, it is not silky like Dabble / Scribble hair, although it can fade to white when exposed to sunlight just like that annoying fading pink. (I have had to fix one of these someone left in a plastic clear jar of water on a sill for probably months ugh)

On a slight tangent, if anyone does figure out how to replace the horizontal hair of the UK family ponies, I'd be super interested!  I'm guessing it would be impossible to perfectly line up the stripes using a donor tail as a mane. I*may* have cut the hair of mine as a child 'because they were boys'  :argh:

I never remember what current custom is for naming these, and that's what's on her card, so that's what I call her. Her colour looks similar to Moondancer's to me, but I can't do a direct comparison because she's carded. Maybe someone else can...

My Dabble also has faded hair. I kinda just live with it, though, as I got her and scribbles through trading stuff and so didn't have to lay out a whole lot of money for either of them. It looks quite pretty in white, although I imagine it's better in aqua.

The families also fade, I've noticed, from ones picked up second hand. Sigh. Helpful hasbro.
