I'd like to talk to you about Barbie

I never really was interested in this entire thing about her until yesterday, when this came up in my tumblr: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dN9BQpHdNEA

This really caught me off the guard. I never really had a soft spot for Barbie herself, but I wouldn't go as far as to think of her like she 'is the devil who ruined the female body', because let us be honest, toys all have different propositions that are totally not like real life so that would be quite hypocritical. Because of this I was never aware of what really was going on.

This new Barbie, however, I like. After watching all these little vlogs, I'm delighted to see her as a character who spreads positive and inspirational messages regardless of the... pretty big stigma she has on her head. What do you think?

I love that gif, such a great message. To be honest, my main problem with Barbie is I find her kind of dull. But I watched the video and it is really sweet and educational.  Maybe I won't judge Barbie so harshly from now on.

I absolutely love this!  What an inspirational message.  I also wasn't a huuuuge fan of Barbie when I was little but she has really evolved since the 80's and I don't have a problem seeing her a role model for my little girl now.

Wow, that was super cute! I hadn't heard about these. Not what I would have expected after watching Life in the Dreamhouse. :p

I liked my barbies when I was a kid, but then they became so common and so cheap- I think the sea of blond smiling faces (and one brunette) kind of lost it's magic for me pretty fast.  My other dolls seemed to have more variety and personality.  I don't know what "go to" dolls the kids go for these days, but based on my trips through the toy isle, it looks like kids have a LOT more to choose from, which is very lucky for them!

Actually over the years Barbie has slowly changed. This is a big step up from what she used to be though.
