Fixing Highlighter Marks on BnG?
« on: December 11, 2015, 12:23:26 AM »
I've acquired a nice Curly Locks with a beautiful not faded fading pink streak, clear symbols, nice hair, and a mechanism that works great - but she's covered in pink highlighter - and I know it's not regrind, because someone has drawn shapes and arrows on her head, and colored her wings in. Considering it's sort of close to the actual vinyl color, it doesn't bother me that much, because she's in great condition otherwise - but I'd like to try and get rid of it.

Has anyone here had experience with sunfading a pony this color, or treating a Brush and Grow in an oxy-clean bath? I'm most worried about preserving her pink hair streak and mechanism inside.

I've never personally sunfaded a pony, but the Curly Locks I have is nearly white, making me think her dye fades very easily?  I'm probably wrong.

Woa, maybe it's common with BnG's - My Ringlets is super faded, apparently she used to be this lavender color but she just sorta looks...like yellowed grey? I get the feeling this Curly Locks was in a box for a long, loooooong time!

As you mention the pink is left over from pen marks on the pony...the pen could have been any colour and the pink is the residue stained/damage to the plastic after the pen has almost completely faded.

Unfortunately this is is seldom something you can get rid of...if the stain has got right into the plastic and actually damaged it. However, in case it is on the surface your best bet is sun fading. Thats the only thing I have seen over the years that has properly had success with such stains.

If you do try sunfading, be sure to properly cover the hair. That pink WILL fade.
