Anybody ever try this?
« on: December 02, 2015, 06:26:16 AM »
You dye a real pony lets say, pink and give her heart symbols!  :accomplished:
... Or maybe just dye her hair.. Still, would be a cool idea  :)

Yes, people do that.  There are a lot of "party pony" rentals where you rent a pony/ponies for a child's fairy tale/princess/MLP themed birthday party and the ponies show up dressed for the role with dyed bits and sometimes fairy wings or fake horns on.

I made an Ace (from MLP Tales) out of our neighbor's horse. No dying needed though, just a big paper soccer ball symbol. ;)

I gave a pony a rainbow mane for a costume competition wayyyy back in the '80's. She was very light gray so it showed up really well! It was done with wash-out spray dye.
 Looking for G1 Starshine, Bubbles, Lickety Split, Posey, Tickle, and a few more

They sell horse-safe body paints, so it's probably been done. The only problem would be to find a horse that'd put up with being painted and/or dressed up lol!

I've been to a presentation about a group that paints the skeletal anatomy on a very patient horse to help teach anatomy and show how the horse skeletal structure impacts movement.  It was a revelation!

I can think of one time two of my friends accidentally dyed aa white horse purple with the shampoo they were washing him with. He was a very lovely lavender for a few days if that counts for anything

That's what I was going to say! Wow, those horses must be really patient!

Love it! I'm not a fan of dying animals' hair (you don't know if they will have an allergic reaction or not), but that's a cool way to dress up your horse!
