Shipping to Belgium
« on: September 22, 2015, 06:38:33 PM »
I had a buyer on ebay buy a pony off me, but they are international when I specifically stated US shipping only. My listing had free shipping so now I'm worried the postage is gonna be more than half the item cost. What's the point of listing US only when buyers worldwide are gonna see the listing and ignore your wish? How much does it normally cost to send one pony to Belgium?

Even though you might have stated you only ship to US in your listing, I believe you also have to go into your settings and choose to block buyers from other countries from buying and turn off international shipping on your listing.  Without doing both of these, unfortunately, it allows international buyers to bid.  You could always send them a message explaining that you don't ship international as stated and ask them if you could send them a request to cancel their purchase.

If I saw a listing like that, I would assume that the free shipping would only apply within the seller's own country. I would either cancel the transaction or ask her to pay the shipping

You have to choose which countries to sell to in your setting when your are doing the listing , not only put it in your description or international buyers will still see the listing (and unfortunately a lot of people international or not, don't read all of the description :yikes: ) .  If I were buying internationally though I would not assume the shipping is free. Does your buyer think that she/he is actually getting free shipping? has she/he  paid/contacted you since?   :what:

^^ I agree with Sebbys advice here -  either you tactfully explain that unfortunately you do not ship internationally and cancel the transaction , or ask the buyer to pay for the international shipping.... although under normal circumstances ebay does not allow you to charge your sellers extra shipping, but this isn't a normal circumstance
Do you have a link to the auction? I'd like to see what you wrote/chose as your settings and desctiption. I'm in the UK so I'll see what your buyer saw  :awake:

Thanks for the advice. I've already gone in my preferences and chose the countries I only wish to deal with. I have a few lots I plan on listing soon and don't want the risk of getting someone over seas. Sorry to be like that, but the shipping risk and cost are too much for me to deal with.
