Hallihallo from Germany
« on: October 02, 2015, 12:50:19 PM »
Hi all,

My name is Tinka and I'm a long-time lurker, first time poster (I swear I'm superfriendly, just a little slow when it comes to reply times -- or when it comes to working up the guts to finally register at a forum and write up an introduction  ). I'm 34 years old and live with my husband and my little son in Germany. Oh, and I'm completely blaming the birth of my little boy and the sudden increase of testosterone in this household for my My Little Pony madness (who am I kidding?! Of course it's not true, I've always been crazy about Mein kleines Pony - the tons of little cars and whatnot merely inspired me to display the few ponies that I own).

As a young girl and teen I tried to get my hands on all the European exclusives and collected the G1s -- a collection that I'm very, very slowly trying to put back together since my granddad thought he would do me and my sister a favour and 'finally clean up that mess of a cellar while you're off to university'. I doubt that I will ever be so lucky to find a Confetti as perfect as mine was, or get my hands on a Happyglow (Oh my God, how much I loved him!), but who knows?

My favourite pony of all times -- mainly because it was my very first pony and because I think she is ridiculously pretty - is Lemon Drop, followed closely by Maiglöckchen/Snow Drop, Confetti, Moonstone, Parasol, and Banana Surprise. I'm also ridiculously fond of rainbow ponies, but have yet to find and replace the ones my granddad tossed into the bin. The only rainbow I do have is a pretty sad looking Baby Quakers whose body is currently soaking in bleach in the hopes to get rid of some nasty spots, so -- if anyone has cleaning and/or restoration advice, I would gladly take it and try to save lil' Quacks!

Hi, Tinka! Welcome to the Arena!

It's okay to be shy, I was too at first, but we're as friendly as you are. I'm so sorry your grandfather threw out your collection (I fear my mother will do the same), but it can be quite exciting to start over. No search is impossible (well, unless you want a Party Time without regrind XD) and you'll find your ponies again. Even if they aren't minty you can restore them again, like you are with Baby Quackers. Enjoy the forums!

Hello and welcome! It's such a shame about your childhood collection!  It is stories like that which make me glad that my family are all basically hoarders  :drunk:

If you haven't already, you will find that the forums here have lots of great tips and tutorials for restoration and cleaning! I came across the MLP Preservation Project website here, and actually keep it bookmarked for when I finally get around to doing massive spa days for my herd:

Thanks, thanks, thanks.
I really need a site like that. Now I only have to dare.
If you have pics of MIB with text in Spanish, please, share with me!
