Which pony should I save for next? :)
« on: September 03, 2015, 03:35:10 PM »
i'm a new my little pony collector, at least for the first generation dolls i am, i'm wondering which pony should i try to save up for next? i'm interested in saving my allowance for a rarer/more expensive pony than i currently have (i have about 8 or 9 common ponies at the moment) i'm just not sure. should i save my money for something pricey like i was thinking i wanted to save up for a glow n show, or maybe even piggy because i want one so badly! but i'm not sure if it's a good idea yet because i'm still kind of a new collector and maybe i should be sticking to common ponies for right now?

so basically im just asking if anyone knows which slightly rare, but not too quite rare ponies i should try to shoot for. one's that are maybe a little less costly ;P opinions please? :V

No one can tell you which pony you should save up for, that's entirely up to you and which ponies you want to collect!!   :)
You want a piggy?? Great choice!  Pick which one and start watching and saving up those pennies for when the time is right.
Not too expensive?  Try for a good condition Big Brother, and then try and get the other ones.  After that and you want to go a little more expensive?  There is always a Mimic for sale on Ebay, she's always a popular girl to save up for.
Expensive is a loose term as well, some people don't blink at spending $100+ for a pony, where some body else will refuse to pay more than flea market value.
Collecting is a purely personal thing, not one collector will collect the same way...(well, maybe, but, you get what I'm saying  )
Enjoy building up your collection!!!!

I agree! Big Brothers are good, safe bets. I'm wanting Mimic myself but then again I want all the Twinkle Eyes one of these days!  ^.^

What first-generation dolls?  Do you mean Megan and Molly sets?

Buy what you like.  As you collect, you're going to end up making a wishlist at some point...  ;)

I personally would go with a type like

Magic Message

Big Brothers

Rainbow ponies

Pony Friends

And just figure out from there what one that's rare from that set
And make that your next big pony.
And for example I collect
Twise as fancy ponies So I got munchy
I also collect Bigbrothers and I got wigwam
Sweetberry ponies I got Cranberry muffins.
These where all fairly big streaches for my pocket book
Afordable but yet not too common.
That's what what I do anyway.

When I decided to go for a collection of MLP I did it like this:
I bought bigger and cheaper lots with more common ponies, and now I look around and if I see a pony online and like it...I go for it! I think I have now almost from every set at least 1 pony, ex Nirvanas!

To me the most important thing about your collection isn't having rarer or more expensive ponies, but having the ponies you like best. I would go and look for ponies you really like the look of, maybe make a shortlist of six or seven names. Then go and research the prices they sell for. Ask advice here of course, if you like. That way you can decide which pony to go for next. You always should prioritise ponies you love over ponies that other people pay stupid money for xD. Of course, if you happen to love one of those stupid money ponies, that may be when your saving pennies may come in :)

You mentioned the Glowing Magic/GLow & Show Ponies. Maybe if you really like the idea of that set, take a look and see which one you want to get most of all. Dazzleglow has several variations which means sometimes her price goes higher than the other three, but you can still get them for a reasonable price if you are patient and keep looking carefully in lots on Ebay. Buy it now can be your friend but it's always better to look through several lots and loose ponies first before buying one.

LadyArachnia's advice is good too. Buy lots for common ponies, and then pick and choose the rarer ones you like after that.

I agree with the rest. You should start saving for a pony you yourself find attractive, why would you spend big bucks on something you don't really even like that much in the end? Browse trough pony pictures, find something that pops, and then find out what it'll be worth and if you can afford it. :)

I agree with what others above have said.  Go for what you like.  If you want something expensive, like a piggy pony, go ahead and save up.  Or, you can try digging through the MLP wiki and Dream Valley websites and see if something else strikes your fancy.

It's all about what you want to collect, after all.  So, have fun with your collection.

Hit up Dream Valley :)

Honestly you should spend a few hours going through the pages and looking at the pictures. Get yourself a "must have list" (and its going to be long probably once you have been on that site) and then factor it down to the ponies you like the best.
