Hypothetical Pony Problem

So let's say you want a specific Pony item really bad. Your birthday's in a month and you planned to go on a shopping spree then and get her. But then you start worrying that with so many merchandising problems and things selling out and not coming back in stock for weeks, you'd better get her when you see her, so you do. But since she was originally meant to be a birthday present to yourself, do you de-box her immediately or do you decide you will try to have the willpower to wait and not do it until your birthday? Would you feel like you were cheating yourself if you de-boxed before your birthday? Or would you feel like since you had her in your possession, you just wanted to start displaying her/playing with her immediately and not wait a month? I know some people don't de-box at all, but for the purposes of this question let's say that de-boxing is definitely going to happen; it's just a question of when.

I am kinda impatient by nature but I am learning to be more patient. Though I do vote for the nice card and wrap it up I think it is fun opening it on a birthday. Now that I think about it I recent waited a few weeks before I opened a pony holiday present last year on the 25th and it was very nice too.
