a safe glue to use with apoxy sculpt?
« on: August 28, 2015, 09:55:45 PM »
so im working on a reposed  custom and   im having an issue with  one of  legs  coming off.

the cured apoxy   separated from the  body.   can any one recommenced a   strong  adhesive to  re attach the  apoxy  to the pony?

i don't want to have to re sculpt  that portion of the build  i just need it to not more around or come free.   it will be  sculpted over  later on anyways   but i need it to not move whilst im working on it

I'd imagine you need a strong glue, like Loctite or a two component glue for it to work.

yeah i was thinking  2 part epoxy   .
im not sure if super glue  would be ok ?   i don't want something that will errode the   allready cured sculpt   but it needs to bind the sculpted part to the plastic of the pony.

Any hobby store, particularly for models and such, will carry Insta-cure+, gap filling super glue (cyanoacrylate).  It is inexpensive and made for uses in spanning gaps in sculpting and modeling, like you might have gluing the leg back on. It is also sandable and comes in different dry time options with different levels of viscosity.  I have used the purple cap option for years.  Good luck!  :)

ETA:  In case I wasn't clear, I sculpt exclusively with Apoxie Sculpt and Apoxie Clay and this is what I have used for similar problems to what you are experiencing.  It will not erode or damage the Sculpt.

ended up using the  2 part epoxy.
it didn't sand well  but that  portion will be sculpted over anyways.
