Miraculous Ladybug anyone?

I just wanted to see if there were any other members who watched it (or maybe I can persuade you to  ).

If you haven't heard of it, Miraculous Ladybug (Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir in the US) is a Korean-French kids show that's superheroes with a bit of a magical girl twist. The main character is a French-Korean girl named Marinette who, with the help of her ladybug kwami Tiki, allows her to turn into the superhero Miraculous Ladybug. The other main character is Adrien, a classmate of Marinette, who has a black cat kwami named Plagg that allows him to transform into superhero Chat Noir! Together they keep Paris safe from the mysterious villain Hawk Moth who uses akuma's (corrupted little butterflies) to posses people with negative emotions inside them and turns them into supervillians and uses them to go after Ladybug and Chat Noir's Miraculouses.

The show is still in it's first season, about 18 (?) episodes in with one airing about every Sunday. It mainly airs in France first but has also began airing in the US, Brazil, UK, Korea, and Ireland. New subbed episodes can easily be found on youtube. The first season will have 26 episodes with two more seasons currently being produced.

It was actually originally planned as a more teen-centered anime but after poor reviews they decided to turn it CGI and more kids friendly. It's not awful for a CGI show (and pretty great for a kids show too) and the original anime promos can be found on youtube.

If you enjoy the struggle of two characters not confessing their love you'll adore this show. Marinette has a huge crush on Adrien and Chat Noir is head over heels for Ladybug but neither know their true identities! One day they'll figure it out.

Whoopsie! They had a live show with two character actors at the New York Play Fair and we got the first look at some toys and merchandise from Bandai  at the toy fair (which I will buy all of) so I'm glad to see it doing well enough to get toys

I've seen a little bit of all the first three releases by now! The first airing was Korean, which was neat. I might have to pick up that Ladybug & Chat two-pack when it comes out (especially since it looked like there'd be Tikki and Plagg figures to go with...)

Hehe I adore this show! I have seen all the episodes so far, and it's a fun show to watch. Especially if you watch a new episode live and follow people's live-blog-reactions on Tumblr. xD It's crazy popular on that site.
I also really like how the series creator interacts with the fans. He's a funny and nice guy, and a bit sassy as well. xD Also likes (playfully) teasing the fans when it comes to people asking him on twitter about future events and character background info.

Today me and a friend decicded that we would try to cosplay as Alya/Lady Wifi and Marinette for a con this summer.
And I totally will buy the dolls - hopwfully they wont be too hard to find or too pricey. I admit I would get that two pack doll set just for Chat Noir.

Tumblr is how I found out about the show back before it even started airing. I follow a couple of ladybug blogs, so much cute art! I didn't know the creator talked to fans, that's always such a nice thing to hear. There's so much on this show I'm excited to learn more about! I need moreee!!

I think if I ever got into cosplaying again I wouldn't mind doing a Ladybug cosplay! I can just temp dye my hair black, pigtails, get that tikki plushie from the toy fair, and get one of my sewing friends to help with an outfit. I hope your cosplays go well! (You never know, since you're in Houston we may run into each other at a con one day  )

Hehe I was actually thinking about making a ML topic, but was too shy to do it. xD

Yeah he has a Twitter and Tumblr account and answers people's questions on the series, especially when it was first airing (it was how the fans found out what Adrien's last name was before it was revealed in the show, along with some other characters last/first names such as Alya's). He even mentioned how he came up with the series idea, inspirations, and a bunch of other neat info.
I remember back in the beginning (when Korea first had it), a fansub group on tumblr invited him on Twitter to come join their chat room sometime. He had to turn them down due to being busy but thanked them for the invite. Later that day, he actually showed up in their chat room for a minute and thanked them for their support. The fansubbers were freaking out in excitement. xD He confirmed it was actually him on Twitter afterwards.

Part of me would love to cosplay as Chloe one of these days (she is one of my favorites because of how unapologetically mean she is xD). I am actually kinda shy about doing cosplay for various reasons, but I find it so much fun! And thank you - I am so excited for it, and I hope I can do Lady Wifi justice as far as an outfit goes! Hehe that would be neat to run into you at a con! We plan to do the outfits for San Japan.

As someone who's trying to pick up French, I have been keeping up with the French dub (with English subtitles of course). I am really enjoying it so far!

Really hoping we get a flashback episode about how Marinette and Adrien met their kwamis.

I've heard a rumor that the last two episodes of season 1 will be related to their origin! IIRC it came from someone who'd done work on the show, so at least somewhat credible.

Oh, that's exciting, I hope it's true! I haven't been following any social media/staff input about the show so I'm on the dark about future episodes.
