Shipping to Italy?
« on: August 13, 2015, 10:27:51 AM »
I have someone who is interested in buying an MH doll from me, but I grimaced when I saw that they asked for a shipping quote for Italy because I've heard so many horror stories of the customs there.
So, my question is is there any way to ship to Italy safely?  I have a foggy memory of their customs not accepting any toys that are wooden, is this true?
Thanks for the help!

I've sent parcels of toys to Italy  tons of times with no issues. Its always best to send with tracking/delivery confirmation though as parcels without that can sometimes go MIA ;)  The restricted toy thing has never been an issue as far as I've ever heard.  Where are you shipping from?  If you are in the UK/ Europe then you don't have to fill in a customs form so its much less hassle. If you are in the US/Australia etc then its best to put something like figurine ..something along those lines - rather than "toy" on the customs form - just to be on the safe  side :awake:

I'm shipping from the US so that's why I wanted to be prepared.  Thanks for the advice!  Tracking and delivery confirmation it will have to be then.  I just wish my prospective customer was interested in more then a $5 doll!

Recently I've had international packages go awry - and it was USPS not the foreign customs.  WITH tracking.  An enormous box of expensive things went missing from a big USPS hub.  To this day, we still don't know where it went.

I have noticed a LOT of problems with USPS lately - so yes, tracking, and insurance if you can (although it is so expensive)

I once wrote "toy plastic horse", sent it (small flat rate) priority...and it absolutely disappeared

To this day I'm not sure if it's because I wrote plastic toy, or it wasn't full priority. (I've also read only express has true tracking)

But honestly I don't want to send there again
