Daddy Meadowsweet with a pink tail?
« on: July 12, 2015, 10:00:40 PM »
Hi all,

I've found another pony in my doubles box that is a bit strange. It's a daddy meadowsweet with a pink tail . I remember picking him up at the markets here in Brisbane about 9+ years ago but never noticed that his tail wasn't the same as his mane like it should be. His head is really tightly sealed on to the point i'm not game to try and pry it off for fear of damaging him. I know even back years ago people were 'fixing' ponies and so his tail could just have been done by someone and then his head re-sealed, but wanted to see if anyone else has ever found any ponies like this?

Does he rattle?  If original tail came out, someone might have replaced it by (to be inelegant) shoving another tail into his tail hole.  That's what I did when my childhood Cotton Candy's tail came out.

Another possibility is that his tail was original, but was never dyed the horizontal colors.  (Assuming pink is the base color of his hair.)

Hey Moondancer,

I gave him a good shake and there wasn't any rattle, so I think if someone did replace it they did a professional job about it. That's a really interesting theory that maybe his hair just wasn't horizontally died- maybe it slipped through the cracks in the factory  :P I'm not sure what the base colour for his hair is but :)

Its stayed impressively pink; his pink normally fades. I agree it could well be original and just a factory mistake or it could be he has been borrowing Cotton Candy's tail. I think I would unfortunately be more likely to side on replacement as it looks like the wrong length of tail - his tail should be longer than normal ponies in this pose (not by too much but enough to be apparent). Wrong colour is one thing, wrong length (but in keeping with normal pony tails) seems a little too different. You never know though :)

My guess would be that it's not the tail he was supposed to have, because it looks like a different type of hair than his mane/what these ponies come with. Unless during the process of coloring, the texture changes somehow too? I would personally guess that someone replaced the tail at some point (though if that is the case, you have to wonder what happened to the donor pony, especially if this was done for a child by a non-collector..)

It looks more like Love Story's tail to me. Or Clover's, possibly. It doesn't look the right shade for Cotton Candy, but it looks like the type of pale pink from the later releases that didn't fade as easily.

I don't think it's original to the pony...largely because the texture of hair that those ponies have is slightly different somehow. That rules out for me the idea of it being undyed, it doesn't look right to me. I'm also semi-sure that the pink is too dark to be the right base shade anyhow. My sister's Mummy M came from brand new and hers is still very pink but not that pink...unless it's a batch thing.

But I would guess it's a replaced tail. Washers can get stuck in pony legs, and not rattle.

I assume you gave the tail a really good tug to see if it comes out easily? I used to carry my ponies by their tails as a kid so a few of mine had loose tails as a result but most of them don't come out unless I really try to tug it.

It looks like that glowing hair that the Euro Princesses have. Does his tail glow in the dark?
