Oooh! Does it also work on marker?
Much of the time marker doesn't wash out. It may lighten a bit, but overall once it's there, in my experience it's not going anywhere fast. Rust on the other hand I've had lighten up (never completely gone, but all I use is whitening toothpaste) it really depends  on how old the staining is...

I have a scooter sprite with the same issue. Why must children put glitter glue in pony hair?! I never did get all the glitter out, and it still feels all oily, but it's the best I could do. Now I want to sell her on, but how does one explain glittery hair that feels heavy and is rather icky-feeling... Maybe I'll strip her and sell her as prepped bait, lol!

Have you tried washing her hair with a good dish soap, like Dawn?  That's really good at getting rid of oils...

I think I've now got her about as clean as she's going to get...

When the glitter came off her horn it unfortunately took some of the silver paint with it, although I was sort of expecting that to happen.

She also has a mark near her symbol that won't come off and some of the colour stubbornly refuses to come out of her tail, but I have disguised this a bit with a shiny ribbon

Altogether, I'm quite happy with how she turned out, and she seems quite pleased not to have her hair gunged up with paint any more!

Have you checked to see if that's tail rust?  Looks about the right color, and regular soap and water won't usually take it out.  She's looking so much better already though. *thumbs up*

I suggest starting with a gentle combing! Work from the ends up to the base, using a fine tooth comb to break up the varnish. Just tap and tug softly; I had to brush something off of a stuffed animal once. It was crusty like that stuff is, and I didn't want to pull all the fur from the tail, so I just worked at it carefully, breaking it off. It can be messy, so put a towel underneath!

Thanks for the comments everyone!  I've got quite fond of her while working on her, and she's on the shelf now, making friends with my other G2s :)

Baby Sugarberry, I wondered if the staining on her tail was rust, but it's really hard to tell as the glittery bronze paint that was all over her was a similar colour. I've decided to leave it for now, but I might investigate further when I have a bit more time.
