I personally love my 3DSXL and the folding screen. The fact the 2DS is just this big bulky thing turned me off to it. It looks like a brick. Haha And I just turn the 3D effect on my 3DS as it gives me a headache. But that is just my 2 cents.

I think the 2DS looks bulky and tacky. I adore my 3DS XL and it's lasted me a while. I'd highly recommend getting one (and not a regular 3DS). The bigger screen is so worth the extra money.
