Hmm . . . my estimates are probably not super accurate, but I'd guess that their prices would go something like this (assuming they have hats and bandanas and are in good condition):

Tex -- $40 to $50

Slugger -- $40 to $50 (so you probably paid about the right price)

Steamer -- $40 or less if his hair is faded and he has regrind, $50 or more if he doesn't have these problems

4-speed -- $50 to $60 (best if he has pink streak in hair still)

Barnicle -- $50 to $60 (he's pretty popular, especially with his pirate hat)

Chife -- $40 if he has cancer problems, closer to $60 if he doesn't

Salty -- $40ish to $50

Trucker -- Trucker is 4-Speed :) (Trucker is his British name, I believe)

Quarterback -- $50 to $60

As far as North American big brothers/males, there's also Wig Wam and Tux 'n Tails. Wig Wam can go pretty low without his headdress, but with it I'd guess he'd be at least $40. Tux 'n Tails is pretty expensive -- $50 to $70, I'd guess.

*edit* And you can always stalk auctions and lots and buy them and their accessories separately to save money. :) It really depends. You can find great deals if you go off the beaten path.

Salty $20-$40 He's actually and consistently one of the cheapest Big Bros you can find, he's also very handsome.

Tex $40-$70 Depending on his condition. He's one of the most expensive Big Bros. I personally never liked him.

Steamer $20-$70 From what I understand there's a variant of him that is more expensive? The Nirvana Experts can help you there. But he can come pretty cheap, pretty regularly as he is for $25-ish with some flaws

Wig Wam-$28-$50 He seems to be a tad more reasonable with his accessories.

Chief-$40-$60, More if he doesn't suffer from yellowing

Slugger around $40-$50 not a bad deal you got.

Quarterback-$40-$60 higher price range if he doesn't suffer from pvc breakdown.

Barnacle-I see him a lot in the 40ish range. Not bad! I'd get him if I actually liked him. Well my kid likes him so I can buy him for her.

4 Speed-Correct me if i'm wrong but I think he and Tex might be the most expensive of the Brothers. I see him on average around $60-$70. More if he's got his hat and bandana   :(

You will always pay much more when they come with accessories. In fact you will pay a lot just for their hats and bandanas. I personally would rather buy a nice $1 dollar bandana from Michaels or some other craft store of a similar color, cut out a triangle and tie that around him rather then shell out 30 bucks for one, but that is just me.

Tex and Tug (Salty)used to be the most common for me. I think it relates to when they were released. Trucker (yes, that is his uk name) is the only one I am still missing the bandana for. I would concur that, given the fact his hair streak can fade and he can have plastic issues, he is probabky the worst to find.

Mountain boy ponies were only sold in 1987-8 and only in limited places ( Uk, and possibly Scandinavia and Oceania) so supply snd demand is worse for them. Thundercloud is still the most common, and ebay uk your best bet, especially in a lot or not labelled by name.

They can be a bit all over the map as they can be prone to issues. As a general rule expect to add $10-12 per bandana and $15-20 per hat for most big brother base prices. It is also often cheaper to pick them up in parts - you will often find the pony with the accessories will be more expensive than the sum of their parts.

Tex - $40
Slugger - $45-48 - assuming none of the regrind he is prone to
Steamer - $55 - assuming none of the regring he is prone to and without faded hair
4-speed - $45-48 - assuming his pink streak is unfaded and none of the age marks he can develop
Barnacle - $55
Chief - $52-58 - he is the worst for age marks, this price assumes none
Salty - $40 - he tends to be the cheapest of the group but his hat is weirdly one of the harder to spot
Quarterback - $50 - he can be bad for age marks, this price assumes none
Wig Wam - $55 - his hat is usually the most expensive of the lot

Tex and Salty tend to be the the least expensive of the bunch with Chief and Wig Wam at the higher end.
