Need help on Ideal Sesame Street talking plushies
« on: June 17, 2015, 08:47:50 PM »
I just Got Big Bird and  Cookie Monster from a flea shop  ^.^ and found out they are interactive toys, but I'm not sure if they work

It seems the Cookie Monster needs a cable to work, but if you do a search in ebay it appears the cable is a regular 3.5 mm audio cable?  :what:

I want to clean them since they are dirty, and did a search and it appears the fabric can be cleaned wit cleansing whipes or using a superficial clean wit a toothbrush and water wit soap or shampoo? is that the way or they are others? I want to be sure to don't get the mechanism wet   >_<

I had big bird when I was a kid!!

There is a space of a cassette tape in the back--put it in and he reads a story with you 9he also came with 3 books^^

He probably needs batteries..though I forget how hes turned on.

I use the Gund brand one, but it looks like Gund has discontinued theirs. I don't know why BABW doesn't have a picture on their page.....

Thanks I haven't tought of that  :satisfied: , a stain remover is a great idea  well if the BAB ones are discontinued maybe a regular one for cleaning sofas or carpets might work  :wonder:

True I'm curious on if they work, the battery slot looked fine no leaks, only a bit of dirt on Big Bird, in the past I  used pure alcohol on the slots and it do wonders

However I don't have the music tapes for them, but there's some regular music tapes here in the haouse that might work  ^.^

BABW's isn't discontinued, just Gund is. I still don't know why the picture of the bottle isn't showing up on BABW's website.  :what: There's also another brand or two out there. BAB's is just the easiest to find.

I have used sofa/carpet cleaner on stuffed animals, but that's more of a last resort type thing.

I See thanks for the info, the problem right now is at my country's customs, there have being some real mess there like some people getting their stuff on hold in containers for many months that means taxes that could mush more  of the price of the product  and there were some strikes, so is a very difficult to shop from the internet for the moment  ^^; so I guess the sofa/carpet cleaner could work on the stains

Well, I did washed Big Bird today using the spray bottle wit tap water and a bit of shampoo, he's mush better now but still has some stains in some areas, the fur is still drying and he would need some of the plastic area repainted wit acrylics

Opps! I missed that you weren't in the USA. That can make a big difference. :)

No worries, I just used a  pet stain remover for sofas since they tend to be less harsher on fabrics than the regular ones

Big Bird is mush better now wit the stain remover that's a foam one,  it worked great, the only issued now is that he smells humid, I think he would need more of the stain remover since it says "removes odor" and also more ventilation might work?

Here are some before and after pics

Oh, WOW!!! That's much better!

For the smell I have two ideas. 1) Let him lay outside in the sunshine for a few hours. 2) Rub dryer sheets over his fur.

Thanks, I will try it  ;)

Other Issue I just found out while cleaning the battery slot that was dusty is that he does have leak  >_< I used alcohol and bicarbonate to clean it using a toothbrush, some of it got out but it still has some of the leak left and it is hard to take it off

*Edit to add: hummm, it appears sand paper could work ?
