Creature Profiles
« on: July 07, 2015, 05:21:12 PM »
I wasn't certain whether we could post artwork that was not MLP related, but I thought I might take a chance. The first profile is a unicorn anyway ^_^

I do creature profiles for my Detective Docherty website (my book series) and thought I'd share a few. They are a lot of fun. I absolutely love mythology, fairytales and magical creatures. I constantly do research and add and incorporate as many magical creatures into my books as I can.

Naturally, I shall start with the unicorn first

Very fun! The unicorn sounds just like Peter S. Beagle's interpretation of the unicorn. I like the antiquey scroll paper look too. :)

YES! I absolutely love the Last Unicorn. I have the book and graphic novel signed by Peter S. Beagle. Did you read the sequel short story to the Last Unicorn? He published the story for free on his website. If you haven't, I'll link you!

Thank you for the compliments ^_^ I was totally going for the antiguey scroll look, lol! Even though the books take place in modern day, I wanted to keep the classic feel of an old grimoire or beastiary ^_^

Very nice work, I think you nailed the old bestiary feel! :) Love the background texture. The illustrations are wonderful, I really love your take on mermaids, and the pixie one is amazing as well! Is Tom tit Tat a species or a unique character? I like the description a lot, that sounds like a curious little creature.

Were you looking for feedback on the text portions as well? I spotted some typos and minor stuff like that, I can PM you if you're interested in proofreading type comments, no need to spam the thread. :)
