Buying my first dolly
« on: June 02, 2015, 05:42:54 PM »
I honestly never thought this day would come. I got into the MH and EAH fas for a short time, but I was quickly bored with it. I've sold almost all of those dolls. Dolls in general aren't really my think, but I enjoy making clothes for them.  Years ago though I saw the beautiful dolls on the doll menagerie website and fell in love. They seemed like more than dolls, amazing works of art really. I've always misses order dates, or I haven't had the money or they were just more than I was willing to spend on a doll. I couldn't help myself today though when the email went out. Alice Egg will be coming to live with me next year! I know she isn't the most complex or most beautiful doll released, but she was in my price range and has enough details to satisfy my want for one of these girls. Hopefully another doesn't find its way to my home later down the road.

Oh yes those are so very beautiful.  They totally remind me of porcelain tea sets!

Yes exactly! I especially loved the ones that were out during the winter with the mechanical pieces. Unfortunately I just couldn't afford them.

I'll attach the picture from the sale thread for you SwordPony. I'm putting it in a spoiler though. I don't personally think it's bad to show, but it does show her chest area and rear, and some of those areas have a little detailing there that I don't just want to post. Mods if it's not appropriate sorry, feel free to remove her.

She comes with the option of painted or glass eyes, and I'm having such trouble deciding.

ah Maddie, she looks wonderful! I can't even express how I feel when I look at her, she's just magical :lovey:
she really is rather a work of art than a doll - I don't feel the need to be able to play with her, just display her somewhere she fits in.

you have seriously tempted me now... I have wandered off to the artist's site, but I just can't find a price for her. may I ask what price range she is in?

ETA: ah, I realise the reason why I can't find a price is most likely because she was offered for the people on the mailing list, and is most likely long sold out now T__T
if you think it would be something that can be shared, I'd still be interested in at least an approximate price range for her.

Hi Loona! Yeah, I love to sew clothes for dolls, but I don't think I would be able to do that with her since I wouldn't want to cover her up.  If you send an email you will be put on the list pretty quickly. There was a cheaper doll than Alice, but she didn't have a lot in ways of lacing.  She has two different types that she is offering that she has labeled "shell" and "moon glass". From the descriptions the moon glass is supposed to be a little more life like looking while shell is porclain. I ordered shell, and she is coming out to be $900 minus the shipping.  She isn't shipping them till next June though, so it's a half down and half pay by then which is why I can justify getting her. ^.^

Yes! Omg I have wanted them badly, and I was happy that Alice was a price range I could work with. I'll be thrilled to have her. Did you manage to snag more of them?

Thank you Swordpony, I'll be so excited when I get her.
