Perfume Puff Pony accessories question (US related I think...)?

I'm wondering whether anyone else has a white haired Daisy Sweet in a US style box and can confirm for me what her proper accessories should be. I know what the gold hair release apparently has, but I just want to make sure that the white haired one is the same.

My white haired one is in her box but the accessories have been reattached and I am certain they are not the right ones for this pony, especially since I can't see why Daisy Sweet (gold) and (white) would have different variations in accessory.

But then the hair is weird enough a variation so I wanted to be sure...

She has all yellow accessories - ribbon in her tail (I have seen this on other MIB perfume puff ponies which are sealed and not tampered with, but I don't know if this is hers or not), a yellow flower pick and a yellow 3 heart clip. They have been reattached with a staple each side. I understand from other research that Daisy Sweet in the US SHOULD have a pink flower comb, a blue flower clip and a pink ribbon.

I got her from a UK carboot sale 17 years ago for a couple of pounds. Her box is US style but the person she came from had a lot of ponies from the US and some still in US boxes. I have absolutely no idea what kind of box these were sold in in the UK, actually, so it might be that we had the same box. She is actually still attached to the box, her hair still has the plastic in it and I don't think she's been removed. I just don't know what happened with her accessories

As I said, I am assuming she should have the same accessories as the gold haired one...

Any ideas?

That clip never came with Perfume Puff ponies. Yours is a mystery Perhaps she's one of the ones that had random accessories thrown in with them like some other ponies.
 I've only ever saved one pic of a white haired Daisy Sweet and she was mint with box. The accessories were the regular US ones and a pink ribbon in the tail.

It isn't so much a huge mystery...like I said, the bubble for accessories has been reattached. I can't get at it to do a better pic atm as it is at the back of my mip shelf but you can just see the staples. I'm not really positing a variation, just wanted to confirm white DS had same accessories as gold in US box.

The only odd thing for me about it is this.

The pony is still attached to the card, and the plastic etc is still in her hair. I have taken the whole back tray out to photo her for the scrapbook, because she obviously is not sealed, and she is still attached to it. I had assumed the ribbon had been added in till I saw other MIB puffies who had their tails tied similarly. But this ribbon colour is wrong, so probably was added??

What kind of collector removes the accessories from the box but not the pony, though? Lol! Bear in mind this came from a car boot, not an online collecting scenario. Also, now I think on it, I have a feeling one of my Playtime babies is also stapled from the same home, but she has her right accessories.

I know this has been tampered with, but the logic of it is so odd. I know the fact she is not sealed etc would affect her value but since I am not selling her and I only paid a couple of pounds for her, I really am just curious.  Especially since the type of comb is right.

What is the general distribution of white Daisy, btw?

I think its perfectly possible she was on shelves with this range of accessories. We have ponies on the wrong cards and plenty of ponies who turn up MOC/MIB with the wrong colour accessories. It seems more likely she is packed with what she left the factory with rather than someone went to the effort to repack her this way. The tied in hair ribbon is, as you say, pretty normal for Perfume Puffs.

Also, she seems to be (but other than most of them coming from the UK over the years there is no concrete proof...although hmmm I need to double check her release paperwork) a UK release. So as you know better than anyone the weird and wonderful accessory combinations a lot of UK oddballs came with. Perhaps she falls into that category a little.

Like Chrissy the only other couple I have seen over the years had normal accessory combinations but one of those pictures was very poor so while the colour and shapes looked right they may well not have been entirely as per the US.

Hrm. You know, I'm pretty sure I did once have a loose white haired one, and I remember talking about it online but ended up selling it because at that time people were saying they were just faded. Years ago, this was, maybe in the late 1990s. I don't have her now so I must have sold her. The boxed one I kept because she was boxed and that kinda proved to me she was real (if you know what I mean). That would've also been found here in the UK. My gold haired one was also found here, though, at the carboot, and I have found other gold haired ones too.

Perfume Puff Ponies have an odd entry on my Hasbro list. It literally says, "Perfume Puff Ponies: Names Not Known". I have NO idea why they would be so specific with most sets and yet not with this one. I don't know if it was a missing page from the record they copied the names out for me from, or what, but it always struck me as odd. I still don't know whether they had a "UK box" or what box they were sold in here, since I never ever saw them as a kid in stores. I knew about them because of the comics, really. I did wonder whether we were only meant to have 4 of them, like with other sets, or what happened. It's a big grey area since I am not sure they're on any of the inserts. Pretty sure they aren't.

With Daisy Sweet, therefore, my knowledge is seriously lacking.

I would be happier about the accessory variation if it hadn't been reattached. The thing is, the collector I got it from was a child whose mother was really the one who was all into the ponies. They knew a lot of information, the mother had acquired ponies from the US for her daughter, as well as some european ponies which would be known as Nirvana later one. I have Baby Starburst in box from them, and her accessories have also been stapled in but I have verified they are correct. This child didn't get to play with most of the ponies bought from new, so I could see that Daisy Sweet would've stayed in the box for the most part. The box plastic is not in great condition - what looks like clearance label residue is over most of it, suggesting that it was from a discounted line when they got it. It's possible that they didn't undo the accessories, but that it came loose and they reattached it.  The trouble is that unless we find another like it, proving it is impossible.

I have thought before that Daisy Sweet with white hair might be like the Princesses and Happytails with mismatched hair, since that's clearly Sweet Lily's hair. In that instance, US boxes are common, and so her having odd accessories wouldn't be that strange. I don't think there's anything on the box in terms of promotions from that time period (like mummy charms) and there also wasn't a leaflet with the box when I got it. BUT it clearly had been opened. I wonder if maybe the inner tray was taken out and displayed and somewhere in all of this the accessories came off...

All the other perfume puff ponies they had were loose. Daisy Sweet is the only one in her box. Sadly, when the collection got sold, all the packaging for the ponies they had was destroyed by the girl's father (it was a messy domestic breakup situation). So only the ones in their boxes kept their packaging. If I had been able to I would've got all of the packaging from them, and that might've led to more knowledge about the others and comparisons - but sadly that didn't happen.

I also have this random and unsubstantiated memory that they had a Sweet Suds in Posey's pose. I've always assumed that was my mis-remembering, because the one they sold at carboot was in the normal pose, ut I never saw Sweet Suds till I visited her collection once and after that I was convinced she was in Posey's pose till my sister got one from a trade that wasn't. I still think that was my insanity - but who knows. They had a lot of odd stuff.

Sorry, it's really hard to see the accessories.  Looks like the comb is a pink flower pick.  And maybe a pink tail ribbon?  Unfortunately I can't see the barrette.

It definitely looks like a pink flower pick to me. I can't see a ribbon so I'm not sure, but it makes sense that white Daisy should have the same comb as normal Daisy.

Maybe mine has just been swapped around. I dunno. Probably never will know. It's interesting, though. Thanks for sharing that image. I saw some absolutely gorgeous gold-haired MIB images when googling, but I couldn't find a single other white one to compare mine with.

That reminds me:  I have a question about Euro accessories too.  Mind if I ask it here, while we're on the subject?  For German Coco Berry and Swirly Whirly, are the accessories the same as the US releases?

The US and UK cards are really similar but all the Sundae Best I have seen on UK card do not have the clips (the Uk ones pictured on my page are from LadyG's collection, and both have the UK name on the card) and the only German carded one I have seen, Peppermint Crunch (seen twice, one belongs to Einhornbaby and the other Lady G), were also clipless...are you saying there are also German release Sundae Best with clips?

I ask because the 1st uk insert with them on advertises clips and calls them Ice Cream Ponies, which makes me think that was translated from the German set name. With the variations it made me wonder also if there are 2 distinct German releases for this set, one with and one without clips...and therefore the same in the UK too...but I have never seen a UK or German carded one with a clip, only brush and ribbon.

Sorry same as the UK releases - as we were talking UK on other things I did not think to clarify! The German releases have the same bordered card as the UK releases which, as you mention, come without the clip.

Oh!  I didn't know that!  To clarify, so the Euro (UK and German) releases came with the same ribbon and comb/brush as the US releases, but no barrette?

Yes exactly. I have seen a couple of differences over the year but about the same as you see with any set - when its just a case of an error in the comb/ribbon that should have been included.
