Grand Champions Tack ID help (and brag!)
« on: May 27, 2015, 09:42:59 AM »
A few weeks ago at Value Village I found an awesome lot of Grand Champions. Either they were from a former collector or a kid that took really good care of their toys, because these were the nicest second hand GCs I have ever seen! Anyways, As much as I love the horses, I've never been great at IDing their tack. This one foal came with an odd rubbery set of tack, including a saddle and hood. I doubt it is GC (because really, tack like that on a foal? lol) but it fits him perfectly. Any idea of where it might belong? Thanks!

Here's my new GCs Picked them all up for a bit over $20 after tax! There's a breyer in there too, but she's kinda cute I think I'll keep her. (My first breyer)

Don't Grand Champions have GC on their tack?

It looks like something form a medieval toy line^^

Congrats on your finds <3

That's not GC tack on the foal and what an awesome bunch! Always nice to see another GC collector on here.

Buckskin Mustang foal is Maple Sugar
Liver Chestnut Thoroughbred stallion is Blue Ribbon MO, Commotion
Black stallion is Black Beauty
Sorrel QH stallion is Big Red
White Gray stallion is I think Quarabian Silver Streak?
Fleabit Thoroughbred stallion is Foxcroft
Black Morgan stallion is Spark of Courage
I think the palomino stallion is either Goldenbolt or Goldenbloom?
Dun Dutch Warmblood mare is Sugar n Spice
Black Morgan mare is Velvet Twlight
Gray Appaloosa mare is Snow Queen
Bay Arabian stallion is Sultan
Chestnut mare is a Breyer Dapples
Fleabit Gray Thoroughbred foal is Lucky
The blanket is covering the white foal but it looks like its either Quarabian Mischief or Appaloosa Shadow
Bay Morgan foal is Born Lucky

A medieval toy line? That makes sense now that I look at it. Thanks! Also, the leg wraps on the horses/floor - are they GC at all? I'm really only familiar with the standard english and western saddles and bridles. Anything else and I'm lost!

Some of the leg wraps look like they were made, I don't think the yellow is GC But I could be wrong.
Most of the tack Sultan is wearing originally came with him
The tack Velvet Twilight is wearing is GC tack
The Racing Bridle on the floor is GC
The foal Blanket is GC

Wow, what a lucky find! I love Grand Champions. :) I know nothing about IDs on the horses OR their accessories, though.

Coolness! I loved my Grand Champions as a kid and it would be awesome to find some at a thrift store. That's one toy line I almost never see. I think the leg wraps in the foreground are Grand Champion; they look like the wraps my horses had. Sultan's leg wraps, incidentally, should look more like them, I think; I believe he came with "skin-tight" leg wraps like that, not the poofy ones he has on. :) (this is from memory; haven't taken him out to see the light of day for two years now)
