Best Dye?

Evening folks, it's your local EQG crazy Carrie here with a question that I thought the experienced dollfolk could answer.

I recently got a double AJ for my birthday so was thinking of possibly dying her little dress black. I'm just wondering what would be the best dye to use and how would I go about ensuring it wouldn't stain the dolls' bodies when they have the "new" dress on? I know staining can be a problem, especially with darker colours which is why some companies even ship their dolls with a protective layer of tissue.

Black is a hard color to get...  but whichever dye you do end up using, make sure you soak the outfit in vinegar for at least 24 hours , then thoroughly clean it before putting on a doll.  Vinegar will help set the dye colours into the fabric.  Also it depends on the fabric - it might not take well to dye.  A simple swatch of black fabric can be easily obtained, especially from discarded costumes.
